La Chaparrita Taqueria — dependable mexican in Little Village. Classic neighborhood feel, nothing here chasing trends. Flavors stay true to the source. Eren Sanchez: "Even when there’s a wait, you can tell the food is super fresh and worth it"

“I had a sangria from their happy hour and it wasn’t good at all, next time I’ll just stick with the aguas, the guayaba one was delicious”

“My go to spot for tacos.”
My go to spot for tacos! Always get a dozen of tacos de canasta 🧺 mixed to start! I order a few tacos de tripa bien dorada solo cilantro! My favorite salsa is the green one they offer.

“Tiny but mighty tacos with so much flavor.”
Tiny but mighty tacos with so much flavor! The Al Pastor could very well be the best in the city. The Suadero is a must, as are the Cebollitas Asadas (essentially tiny onions cooked in amazing flavors that you pop in your mouth). Aguas Frescas is also such a good change of pace and balance from the spicy food and salsas Will go back repeatedly with out of town guests!

“Hands down my favorite tacos in Chicago.”
Hands down my favorite tacos in Chicago! If you’re in Little Village, this spot is a must! It’s part grocery store, part taqueria, and honestly feels like you’re stepping straight into Mexico! The decor, the atmosphere, even the little details on the tables! 🥹 I’ve tried asada and al pastor tacos here. The asada was my personal favorite, but everything was packed with flavor! They serve radishes and limes at the table, plus cebollitas and chiles asados on the side. The tacos are smaller size, so if in doubt order more! 😋 Service is fast, friendly, and consistent! Even when there’s a wait, you can tell the food is super fresh and worth it. Drinks are great too! The horchata is my personal favorite but their liquados are also amazing! Overall, this place is authentic, affordable, and absolutely delicious. This is my go-to every time I’m in the Chicago area, I can’t wait to be back!

“My girlfriend and I stopped by this taqueria and it didn't disappoint.”
My girlfriend and I stopped by this taqueria and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere and decor made me feel like I was eating in Mexico. My girlfriend also loved the attention to detail inside. The service was fast and consistent. The food was very very good and filled with flavor. The only problem I would say was the size of the tacos, in comparison to price (about $3 to $4+ depending on protein). They are "Mexico size tacos" aka mini tacos, nonetheless, I won't take off a star because that's subjective and also because they tasted great. We were satisfied from the drinks to the food.

“I don’t live in Chicago and somehow I ended up there for both Memorial Day and Labor Day.”
I don’t live in Chicago and somehow I ended up there for both Memorial Day and Labor Day. Visited La chaparrita on both occasions. Some of the best tacos I’ve had in the US! I am from Mexico City and these compare a lot, especially the suadero and cecina. They also have tacos de canasta which are hard to find and even harder to be good but theirs are as good as it gets outside of Mexico. Service can be a hit or miss depending on how busy it is. I had a sangria from their happy hour and it wasn’t good at all, next time I’ll just stick with the aguas, the guayaba one was delicious. I’ll make sure to stop by whenever I’m in Chicago.

“La Chaparrita Taqueria offers an authentic Mexican culinary experience.”
La Chaparrita Taqueria offers an authentic Mexican culinary experience. Nestled in the Little Village neighborhood it’s a hidden gem. Their menu boasts mouthwatering tacos, including carne asada, lengua (tongue), and pastor (marinated pork). Don’t miss the refreshing agua frescas like limon or pineapple. Great and friendly service.
