Taco Maya
Taco Maya — a River North mexican mainstay. Buzzy, energetic room where the crowd adds to it. Traditional preparation with honest flavors. Good value, open late. "The chips were crispy, and the salsa was fresh and flavorful, serving as the perfect starter to our meal" — Binita Shah [patio]

“Being an LA based taco snob, I was pleasantly surprised by this place. They could go toe to toe with any of the famous LA spots. Cool fusion with the paneer and samosa tacos. Staff were super friendly and made me feel at home while traveling. Grateful for you guys! Keep up the great work.”

“I had the tacos and my husband tried the tamales, both were absolutely delicious. The rice was flavorful and cooked perfectly, and the tortillas held together well (a must for good Mexican tacos). The chicken and al pastor tacos were both well seasoned and tasty, I recommend having them Mexican style. Don’t skip the salsa bar, it has a great variety of sauces to customize your tacos. It’s a fantastic spot whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a filling meal. There’s plenty of indoor seating, along with a few outdoor patio chairs. The staff was very friendly, which added to the experience. The only downside during our visit (6/25/26) was that the restrooms were out of order.”

“Looks like a very clean unauthentic Mexican joint. Wrong. Extremely clean. Great horchata. Excellent chicken fajita steaming! Good salsa and chips. Liked the rice and didn’t get beans. Very satisfying meal.”

“Delicious! 5 stars! LOVE the traditional Birria and Signature tacos AND the Samosa Taco (and Paneer Taco)!”

“Absolutely delightful and delicious. Wish there was a restaurant closer to my home town in mahomet. Guacamole is amazing. Everything is amazing”

“The tortilla chips were the best I've ever had. Warm, seasoned, freshly made.”

“I order from Taco Maya all the time on Uber Eats, and the food is always excellent. They’re reliably open late, which has made this one of my go-to spots for late-night Mexican flavor. The shrimp quesadillas, chicken tinga tacos, and elote are all outstanding. It is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently well-made. I’ve passed by their convenient downtown location a few times but haven’t had the chance to dine in yet. For now, I’ll keep ordering online, but Taco Maya has definitely earned a permanent spot in my rotation. Highly recommend!”

“Taco Maya never disappoints, big fan of this place and their fish tacos. Definitely on the pricier side, this was $32 but it’s delicious so I can’t complain.”

“the taco serving is small but man, their food is amazing!”

“Was in the area and decided to give it a try. I lucked up the place was empty. Ordered one Shrimp taco and two Dorado tacos. I wanted to try the Samosa taco, but the cashier told me they don’t carry it. The tacos come with chips and salsa. Chips and salsa were good. The tacos presentation was on point, but it needs more flavor. I like the cook on the Dorado taco it was crispy. The price point is high, but it’s the River North neighborhood, so it’s to be expected.”
