I've been here a few times and so far has tasted the Burrito dinner, combination plate, and The Lamb Chops. I have not walked out disappointed!! The ambiance is humble with a soft Mexican theme setting. This family owned restaurant is dedicated in making you feel at home all while serving up delicious food. Sister's work hard in the kitchen to cook up authentic traditional Mexican food that will make your palette happy. Not hungry drop by for drinks as their house margaritas will have you wanting a few glasses or more because it's so good and will give you a happy buzz. There's a small bar where you can eat and drink or just socialize. This restaurant is spacious and although reservations are not needed you don't want to risk a busy packed night. Located near Rogers Park and Gladstone Park community up north in Chicago. Heading to O'Hare convenient off the expressway you'll find this gem of a restaurant. After your dinner and drinks if you got room for my dessert you have to indulge in the Churros with vanilla bean ice cream. That was so yummy I could of in had my dessert before dinner. I can't articulate the simplicity/casual yet formal fine dining you'll experience at Mom's Old Recipe. This place is excellent for date nights, solo enjoyment, and or family celebration. They will also accommodate large group settings to suit up to 90 people.

Great family owned local spot in the Jeff Park/gladstone park neighborhood of chicago- really tasty entrees, j enjoyed my enchiladas trio. Homemade mole sauce is so delicious! They made my friend’s birthday extra special by brining out a fancy ice cream sundae and singing to her and putting the sombrero on her- it was delightful! The place was very busy on a Saturday around 6pm, so I would recommend a reservation. Overall nice dining experience. Good service, tasty chips and salsa, margaritas looked good and full service bar too

The food could not have been fresher, seriously do they have a garden outback that they went straight to table from. Wow the ceviche you could not even tell there was shrimp in it it was so fresh . The chicken from the enchilada melted in your mouth. It seriously brought me back to Mexico - authentic Mexico❤️❤️❤️ True gem.

Just one word! Freshlysqueezedskinnylimemargaritas!!! My ultimate go to this summer. Thanks Mom's and sorry if anyone gets carpal tunnel cause of this review! Great place for a traditional taco or burrito and awesome place for a sit down celebration. OMG, the Grilled Salmon is killer and the Fajitas are nicely charred to perfection. Mom's really takes such care for the flavors, the freshness, and the quality! This place is a great value! Can't wait for full seating again so we can enjoy the tasty Margs while munching on an app! I've been Mexican all my life and can guarantee Mom's Old recipe is super authentic with a classy flair! PS, I would share pics but the food looked and smelled sooooooo freakin good, I snarfed it all down before I could grab my phone! Seriously, I lost my mind I couldn't think of anything else while eating. Thanks Mom's! Fast forward to March 2022 and I just had some fab braised and stewed pork called cochinito which is phenomenal slow cooked in Mexican spices, some mild, some moderate but all savory. Skirt steak cooked to perfection and mole to die for. MOR keeps us coming back for more!!

Wow!!! Mom’s Old Recipe aka the mole recipe is incredible! I had it with the enchilada trio! It was out of this world! So good! I was so happy with my meal! Came with a bunch of friends for a dinner and night out. We had a great dinner! We did the fried queso, ceviche, guacamole, and shrimp cocktail appetizer. Everyone loved it. The enchilada trio were some of the best enchiladas I have ever had! It was super tasty!
