Mole Village Restaurant — Pilsen mexican anchored by the Mole. The kitchen takes tradition seriously. Good service that doesn't feel rehearsed. "The quality of the food did not suffer at all, the meats were so tender and juicy, the mole was top notch" — Lulu Zhang

“We had the mole chicken, the mole chicken enchiladas, and the mole chicken bowl, and everyone loved theirs”

As I note in my other review, I generally do not post on local gems, like this that I don't want gummed up with crowds, but I really want this place to stay open, so here we go. This is a tiny restaurant tucked away along the industrial/residential corridor of Blue Island Ave. that has exceptionally spectacular food. Homemade tortilla chips and tortillas, molcajete that isn't too spicy, and the sweetest service you could ask for from the staff. We had the pozole and caldo the pollo which were very clean, bright and restorative. The mole isn't out of a jar and avoids the cloying sweet with no dimension that you can get at other places. The chile rellenos are flavorful and cooked accurately with good breading and delicious cheese and sauce. Did I mention the custom made corn tortillas that are soft, chewy and seasoned perfectly? Come to this place. It is not a "cheap" place so prepare to pay for the love and attention you'll taste in every dish.

Came from Dallas to try this place out, took two trains to get here and it was definitely worth it! As soon as we came Anai provided amazing service. She even let us try the mole before ordering. I would highly recommend the chilaquiles de mole and agua de Jamaica to everyone!!

Staff was friendly and welcoming. The mole was amazing, tasted homemade and reminded my of my mother’s very own cooking. Tortillas were handmade too! Will definitely visit again!

Personal opinion, didn’t think much of it. I love Mole, so I had to give it a try. GOH’ DAAAAAAAMN’ IT. BEST MONEY EVER SPENT. I am writing this while I am still eating, there’s a reason it’s still here. Give it a try and find out why it’s still here and GONNA STAY HERE. Welcome to Pilsen. 😤❤️🇲🇽📖

So delicious! They've won awards for their mole and it's easy to taste why. It's a darker, slightly bitter, slightly spicy mole, that's not as sweet as some I've had. I had this a few days ago and have been craving it since then. The restaurant itself looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but on the inside it's warm and welcoming, simple and clean and homey. You could bring your grandmother here. Service was fast and polite and kind. We had the mole chicken, the mole chicken enchiladas, and the mole chicken bowl, and everyone loved theirs.

“Everything was delicious.”
Everything was delicious. From the salsa, to the soup to the enchiladas. Their mole is very good with a touch of sweet chocolate. Great service and reasonable prices. They also serve breakfast. No alcohol.

“Best burrito I had so far in Pilsen.”
Best burrito I had so far in Pilsen! It's a great place for authentic Mexican food. I had a breakfast burrito and my wife a vegetarian burrito which were both great. The burrito bread and also tortillas are handmade and you taste the difference. The owner and staff are very attentive and friendly. The place can be rented for private or corporate functions.
