“One of my favorite spots in Lakeview. I used to work in the area and would go to Mixteco before my shift. The tacos are fresh and delicious. They also have some of the best rice & beans I've ever had.”

“Quite literally the best nachos and quesadilla I’ve ever had. I get them once a week! Their steak is AMAZING, the queso is to die for and their chipotle aioli is something I could eat on its own.”

“Five stars isn’t enough! The quesadillas here are absolutely amazing—I'm still craving them, and if you love spicy food, this is definitely the place to go. The customer service is easily 100+; my nephew accidentally left his phone behind, and the staff was nice enough to hold onto it safely for us. The entire place is clean, polite, and welcoming. I highly recommend the food here!”

“I'm a big fan of Mixteco on Belmont, and eat here at least once a week when I'm in Lakeview either perusing Brown Elephant nearby or shopping at Target. The food is consistently very delicious and fresh, and the portions are big enough to take some home. My favorite is the fajitas meal - pictured here is the carne asada fajita option which always makes me do my happy tastebud dance. It's one of my favorite casual spots to sit and dine solo - it's peaceful with a lovely ambiance and friendly staff.”

“I ordered catering from Mixteco for an event and it was fantastic. The online ordering process was clear and smooth, the delivery man was on time, friendly, and helpful, and the food was delicious! I ordered a taco bar with two meats and fajita veggies, corn and flour tortillas, all the toppings, salsa, and chips. It was a hit with the event guests. I would highly recommend Mixteco for catering and would love to order again.”

“I’m still thinking about how good this meal was! I ordered the Chicken Avocado burrito and it was top-tier quality. The chicken was grilled to perfection—so juicy and flavorful, not dry at all, which is hard to find! I honestly didn't expect this level of quality from this kind of restaurant, but I was absolutely blown away. The portion size was amazing for the price, and the variety of salsas were incredible and full of flavor. From the mild to the Habanero Xtra, you can tell they care about the taste. Customer service was awesome too. 10/10—don't skip this spot!”

“My favorite quick Mexican spot on the north side! I always get the shrimp burrito. They recently started putting the burrito on the flattop so you get a nice crispy outer tortilla shell to complement all of the flavorful fillings. The queso dip is really great as well and reminds me of queso I’ve had at Texas restaurants.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed this bowl today—everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly put together. The chicken had so much flavor and the ingredients were super crisp. We also got chips with the house salsa, which never disappoints. I usually order online for delivery and it’s always consistent, but it was great to dine in today. Highly recommend!”

“Came here after a beautiful Cubs win over the Padres. Family from San Diego came to cheer for their team, but to no avail. Don't know if it was the cheering, the drinking, or the win, but we developed quite an appetite. After a short walk, we came across Mixteco; the establishment was clean and inviting. The staff greeted us with a smile, even though we walked in with San Diego Padres fans. Our food came out in a very reasonable time; it was fresh, warm, and the seasoning was spot on. More importantly, our San Diego family enjoyed their meal. Thank you, Mixteco Grill; we'll definitely return!”
“UPDATED AS OF 2026: I wish I could give them 5 more stars, lol. I hadn't gone for a bit, and with so many other places going downhill or the "shrinkflation" epidemic, I didn't know what to expect. Answer? Even BIGGER AND BETTER fish tacos!! What?? How? I don't know, but all I know is these are bigger fish filets in each taco, with the same gorgeous veg/onions, and the same addictive chipotle tartar sauce. Holy cow, my faith in restaurants has been restored! Mixteco, thank you for your obvious commitment to serving delicious food and making it even bigger and better over time, lol. How rare is that? One small note; if you order extra sauce (as I always do, lol) and it's a pickup order, CHECK. They do tend to forget and you want to catch that before you get home, lol. Other than that, a perfect experience where every bite was perfect. ORIGINAL REVIEW: You cannot ask for better food or service than you get here. The Baja fish tacos with chipotle tartar are a thing of beauty and my husband swears by the chipotle pulled chicken burrito. Delivery is always so prompt and the drivers are as friendly as could be. It's one of our favourite joints in Chicago and I highly recommend you give them a try. Try it once, you'll be hooked, and treated with great respect.”
“Great food, fast take out. A few things in particular: - Habanero sauce is actually spicy. Like, really spicy. - chips aren't greasy, perfectly crunchy, and salty enough. - horchata is sweet but doesn't feel like a milkshake There's a lot of perception of sameness among Mexican restaurants, but the food really stands out at this spot.”
