Decidedly mediocre for the price point. We had 3 appetizers and 2 entrees.
There are a few reasons that I think 2 is a fair score: 1. We ordered 5 different dishes, and all of them were salty.

Out on a special occasion celebrating my birthday with my loving man and future husband, having dinner at Black and Caspian. Our server Kevin, was also the pastry chef...look for his name on the menu. He was a pleasure as was the meal. The atmosphere was quaint and intimate and food was prepared to perfection. I enjoyed the seared duck and the man ordered the Tagine. Our meal was topped off with a freshly prepared chocolate souffle...thanks again Kevin.

“Dinner Friday night.”
Dinner Friday night. Ordered martini, cheese board (Gouda, chèvre, Asiago) chicken tagine, and sole. The server was a little overwhelmed on a Friday, and the tagine tasted fast cooked rather than the traditional way, but flavors were amazing. This is the best meal I’ve had in Chicago since arriving. If you’re searching for a break from overly sauced and fried American fare, come here!

Stumbled upon this restaurant after shopping and boy were we not disappointed!!! The tajine was immaculate, the platter was insane!! Cocktails 10/10, the service was fantastic. Can’t say enough good things about this gem. Plus the cheesecake, couldn’t pass it up!! So well done

The food was delicious, and the ambience was so peaceful and pleasant. Highly recommend ordering plenty to share, there were so many amazing dishes. Be sure to try the bourbon orange creme brûlée! Highlight of the evening.

Our server Jack was incredible - so attentive and personable, all our interactions felt like chatting with an old friend. The interior is very rustic and charming as well and accessible to my sister, who currently has a broken leg

Great experience! Kevin was our server and also served and bartended for the whole dining area. Food was excellent. Drinks great and wine even better. Kevin even threw in a complimentary tiramisu. This is 100% a hidden gem in the city.

Had such a great time at Back and Caspian. Server was awesome. Had the lamb shanks and they were literally falling off the bone. The entire plate with pasta and veggies went really well together. They make a really mean smoked old fashioned

My friend and I had a great experience! The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. The staff was super nice and helpful in recommending dishes. We tried the pork pasta,octopus and salad. While the salad was a bit too sour for our taste, everything else was really good. Definitely worth a visit!

Food was excellent! It’s an unassuming fine-dining restaurant tucked into Lake View. Perfect for date night! Don’t miss out on the grilled octopus. I had the rose and it was amazing.
