“🤗 I don't pour rice into the soup bowl as it would be impossible to enjoy every rice morsel”
I've heard good things about this place and was excited to try it. Unfortunately, today was a miss.
Closes at 3:00. Couldn't order anything at 2:45. Everything was closed. Please update hours.
My colleagues and I ordered eggs, rice, and extra meat, but they didn’t give them to us. The soup was terrible.

Exactly what I was looking for in this weather feeling nourished with the bone broth. Galbitang and side dishes (kimchi and tofu) were tasty

“The bahn mi is addictive.”
The bahn mi is addictive! This is my second sandwich in as many days. I didn't even take a photo the first day because I inhaled it so fast! Sauce is delicious. The bread tastes like it was made today. Bulgogi abundant. I could eat ten of these. Dangerous.

“Green Apple PHOever is an absolute treasure tucked away in the food court of the building.”
Green Apple PHOever is an absolute treasure tucked away in the food court of the building. If you’re in the Loop and craving amazing pho or Korean food, this is the spot you need to try! Their pho is outstanding—the broth is incredibly clean yet packed with umami flavor, and the meat is unbelievably tender and fresh. The portion size was just right, leaving me perfectly satisfied. One standout detail: the owner mentioned they make their own chili oil, and you can taste the love and care in every drop! I also have to recommend their Korean short rib soup and beef bone soup! Both are rich, flavorful, and incredibly comforting, with deep, hearty broths that warm you up instantly. I can confidently say this place will become one of my go-to spots. Don’t miss out on this hidden gem—highly recommend it👍🏻❤️

“I popped in on a Saturday morning.”
I popped in on a Saturday morning. The pho was a great way to start the day: good balance of broth, noodles, and meat. The man who served me was very kind - there was hoisin at the table with chili oil up front. Randomly, the hot coffee was delicious, super simple and well sweetened. It was a nice finish on the walk home after the pho. Definitely worth trying in the Loop, especially for an early lunch during work or when you find yourself there on a Saturday.

“Such a hidden gem for pho in the loop.”
Such a hidden gem for pho in the loop! They use a house made bone broth for the soup base that makes the soup very clean and not overly rich.

“A cozy hole-in-the-wall spot in the heart of downtown.”
A cozy hole-in-the-wall spot in the heart of downtown. Although unassuming, this counter-service restaurant delivers on flavor, with decently priced dishes that won’t break the bank. While I haven’t had a chance to try the pho yet, the bulgogi bibimbop and kimchi stew (jjigae) are absolutely delicious and worth coming back for. It’s a great place for a quick and satisfying meal if you’re in the area.

“Perfect lunch spot for winter in downtown Chicago.”
Perfect lunch spot for winter in downtown Chicago. We had Kimchi stew and Galbi-tang, love the Galbi-tang a lot (ribs stew with glass noodles). The price is not expensive. Will come back!

Date of Visit: 12 August 2024 🗺️ Location & Accessibility Hard to Find: Green Apple PHOever is located in the basement of a building, which can be tricky to spot. The sign is small, and GPS only takes you nearby. Tip: Once you enter the building (it feels like an office or apartment), let the front desk know you’re heading to the food court. Stairs only access left of the elevators, no elevator access. 🍽️ Food Quality & Menu PHO & More: While they offer PHO, I was surprised by their authentic Korean dishes. I ordered Korean food, and it was fresh, flavorful, and affordable. Portion Size: The portions were enough to leave me feeling full and satisfied. Pricing: Average to cheap for downtown Chicago. A great deal for the quality. 🤖 Service Quality Kiosk Ordering: Orders are made via kiosk, so make sure to bring a credit card. Wait Time: Food is cooked fresh, so expect a few minutes depending on how busy it is. Friendly Staff: The staff was welcoming, helpful, and quick to assist. 🛋️ Ambience & Environment Food Court Setting: The eating area is shared with other vendors, and tables were clean. Simple Decor: Nothing fancy, just basic. You’re expected to throw away your trash and return dishes to the restaurant. 🧼🧹 Is it clean? Restaurant: Clean Tables: Clean Restrooms: Old but clean, like the building. 📝 Recommendation Would I Recommend?: Absolutely! If you love discovering hidden gems with great food at affordable prices, Green Apple PHOever is worth a visit. I’ll definitely be going back. 💳 Important Tips Payment: Only credit cards are accepted, no cash. Signage: Look closely for the small sign, and remember it’s in the basement!

I went here after a dentist appointment and the Korean food was legit. I had the Galbitang which very delicious for a food court… I’d put it against any of the other Korean food places in the city, surprisingly! 배부르게 맛있게 먹고 갔어요 💕 Atmosphere only 3 stars, it’s in a basement, what can I say

I recently tried the new menu, Kong-guksu (soybean cold noodle), and it was perfect for summer! This dish is not only refreshing but also incredibly satisfying. It’s a gluten-free and vegan option. You can ask to hold the eggs if you prefer a fully vegan. The creamy flavor of the soybean broth combined with the chewy rice noodles makes for a delightful and healthy meal. Highly recommend giving it a try!
