“I finally tried Kanin after being on my “want to go” page for almost a year. I was in and out on a mission to get some musubis. Ended up leaving with a poke bowl as well! Flavors were unique and the atmosphere was welcoming. Make sure to glance around the room at all the fun stuff on the walls while you wait for your order. Would totally recommend and I will be back to try more more food 🤤”

“Cute little spot and everything we had was delicious. try the ube banana pudding!”

“The musubi is big, with the spam just sizzling in its rich flavors and soaking the rice with that flavor, huge fan of these savory snacks. Malia and I also got the Kauai garlic shrimp, lightly breaded, and just the delicate seafood coated in the garlic butter sauce really had me missing the island extra with each bite. The poke at Kanin is top 3 in Chicago, on this particular day we had fresh tuna that was swimming the day before in Oahu, so the ahi tuna was going down the hatch and each bite was so special. Umami notes and that burst of green onion flavor paired with the mildy sweet tuna just like the way I had hoped, Kanin is special and a little piece of paradise right here in Chicago, check them out.”

“Very welcoming place and the food was so good!! Plenty of options for Musubi and they have Poke bowls and different desserts as well. They also have a fun selection of drinks the Hawaiian Sun was so good, and the Sinigang Shrimp Musubi was one of the best things I have eaten all year.”

“I haven't had Musubi since I left Hawaii in 2003. This place reminded me of the flavors of Hawaii and I'm forever grateful!”

“Finally made it to Kanin after only catching them at pop-ups, and the brick-and-mortar does not disappoint! Even arriving in the afternoon when most musubi were sold out, the Longanisa Musubi was a total standout—perfect snap and flavor. The Lugaw is pure comfort, and the Ube Banana Pudding is a must-order (creamy, vibrant, and not too sweet). Chill vibes and essential eating if you’re in Ravenswood. Get there early if you want the full musubi selection!”

“Both the Spicy Tocino and the Longanisa with Egg Musubi were delicious. The Ube Banana Pudding was the highlight and tasted excellent. I would gladly come back to try other dishes.”
