“The place, people, and food were all fantastic!! The staff were all friendly and attentive. I came in late at night on a weekday so there was plenty of open seating and you seat yourself. My food also came quickly because I was one of the only people there. The ambience was nice; the lighting and furniture were a nice blend of fancy and cozy. There was music playing but it was not so loud as to drown out conversation. My pre-tip bill was $50, but I ordered an appetizer, two entrees, and dessert. Each entree was ~$15-$17, the lava cake was $9, and the crispy tuna was ~$7-8 (the rest of the $50 was tax). I ordered the Crispy Tuna Small Plate (appetizer) and it was delicious. The crab puffs were gently crispy on the outside and warm on the inside, and the spicy tuna on top was delicious! They came in a set of 5, but I had indulged in two of them before I remembered to take a picture. For my main meal I ordered the Tiger roll (right-hand side) and the Moonlit Ocean roll (left). Both were fantastic in their own ways; the Moonlit was crisp and refreshing and the tiger roll was spicy and filling. I ended up having to get a go box because my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I wanted to save room for the dessert I ordered: the lave cake. One thing about me is I love love LOVE lava cake and I try it everywhere I go. I've had everything from obviously-microwaved-and-still-cold-in-the-middle to a delectable concoction of chocolate. And I mean this completely: the lava cake at Todoroki was the BEST LAVA CAKE I HAVE EVER HAD. The outside was smooth, the cake was spongey and warm, the chocolate shell was rich, and the filling was like a thick cup of hot chocolate. I honestly had low expectations because I assumed that the chef's specialty was sushi so a chocolate dessert may be beyond the scope of their expertise, and I am so happy to be proven wrong. I forgot to take a picture unfortunately (not least because I took one bite and then couldn't stop because it was so good) but trust me, it was delicious. The food was absolutely amazing. I experienced no wait times but I went during non-peak hours and the restaurant was pretty empty except for me. The staff were all very sweet. The physical space was low-key yet sophisticated. What a lovely experience! Would definitely recommend this place.”

“The food is always delicious and it's a great time with family or friends!”

“I love Todoroki!!! I eat in the main room often, I get it from Uber eats, and I just had my birthday in the hibachi room. They never disappoint :) the staff are friendly and attentive, the prices are great, and the food is delicious! I highly recommend for any kind of occasion! A side note too: they were happy to accommodate vegan and vegetarian diets and were so kind :) they made my birthday so special!”

“Our chef and waitress were super charming -- I'd probably come back for them alone. Portions are VERY generous and prepared as requested. There's not much else I can say that other positive reviews haven't already said. Great food, amazing staff experience, good atmosphere. The only negative thing worth mentioning is that you might have a hard time finding parking directly outside (in Evanston, shocking I know)”

“Generous portions of food, very fresh and seasoned to taste. I’ve had great experiences with both dining in and takeout!!”

“The food, presentation and service was outstanding, they could improve on cocktails selection from the bar”

“This has amazing japanese cuisine and all you can eat buffet.”

“Ordered delivery. Ordered California roll with spicy mayo and a regular California roll. Got two orders of regular California rolls, with no spicy mayo add-on. Beware of incorrect order fulfillment.”

“Last time I ordered fried rice from here it was delicious and so flavorful. Today it tasted like plain rice was just quickly cooked with veggies without any sauces, spices, or much egg. The veggies weren’t good either. It truly tasted like there was almost no seasoning. It was not great. Then to make things worse I found a human hair in my food… Please do better”
