Literally so bad no clue why this place has a 4.6 star rating.
Something is wrong with their food. I tried their beef teriyaki lunch special one day.

“I went to Kuni's Japanese Restaurant for my birthday and had an amazing time.”
I went to Kuni's Japanese Restaurant for my birthday and had an amazing time. I ordered the omakase with a side order of Otoro tuna. The fish was perfect and so was the rice. Portions were generous not like in some places where you get a sliver of fish when you order nigiri. The price was very good for 2 people. I am going back this weekend and I can’t wait.

Kuni’s is phenomenal- it has become my go to spot. The staff is incredibly friendly, and I’m always glad when I see Nan as my server! I’ve been waiting a while to post this review so that I could share photos of all the amazing food I’ve had this year. Kuni’s is one of my favorite restaurants. I will always come back.

It is hard to find an authentic sushi restaurant in Evanston, but in this place everything is fantastic and alike my experience in Tokyo. Fried oyster is highly recommended, and the nigiri with a pleasing price shows the excellence of the chef.

Our go-to Japanese food in Evanston. Always tasty, always fresh, balanced traditional food. Our Japanese friend was the person to introduce it to us and it has been a favorite ever since. I'm actually salivating thinking about the food there.

The place is peaceful with a nice atmosphere. Their sushi is very fresh and Japanese authentic style, with no fancy rolls. I really like their selection of raw fish and tasty tempura!

The best sushi in Chicagoland! Always so fresh, ghe service is phenomenal, and you can't leave without trying the soft shell crab! Plus you can't beat the prices. Been coming here since I was a teenager and have never found a place that beats Kunis soft shell crab nor their sushi!
