Koya Japan — high-caliber japanese in Highland Park. Classic neighborhood feel, nothing here chasing trends. Ask questions, the staff has answers. Irene Ramirez: "The salmon teriyaki was perfectly prepared: grilled and the served over a bed of lettuce with rice"

“The food is delicious and there are an assortment of rolls as well as more traditional dishes”
I came here this week to try as I’d read very positive things online.
A lot of reviews say Koya has reasonable prices but this shrimp tempura roll cost me over $9 and was mostly rice…very disappointed.

Always a 10/10! Have been coming for years and nothing has changed - amazing food and amazing service. Favorite miso soup in the world! Avocado torch, Hawaiian, and spicy tuna rolls are a must.

“I cannot say enough good things about Koya.”
I cannot say enough good things about Koya. I was so happy to find this restaurant. Everything we ordered, tempura, tempura udon soup, kids bento boxes, and sushi was incredibly good. Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic Japanese homestyle and sushi menu, also appetizers and izakaya. They have a nice lunch menu and bento boxes. The menu included chirashi, donburi, nigiri and makimono. Casual restaurant with top food. Worth travelling to reach. 👘🌸🍤🍱🍣🍥🍙🍜🍡🍵

Great little (and I do mean little) sushi joint right on the border of Highland Park and Lake Forest. Good fish (good other dishes, too), great service, and a nice dining room. It's not hugely fancy, it's just a nice place. Decent sake selection, too. Plenty of parking and also a block from the Fort Sheridan Metra stop. The only reason not to go is that you don't like fish. Give 'em a go! The
