“Came here for their happy hour, but ended up having a three course meal. The ramen noodle salad appetizer was fantastic and I'm someone that does not like salad. The sushi was delicious! I believe we got a spicy tuna roll, dragon roll, Godzilla roll. We're suckers for recommendations and were told the Chicago fire roll and the sticky date pudding were worth it. We agree! Definitely leave some room for dessert! Quality food and service!”

“Jimoto is an absolute gem on the North Shore and a must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality sushi done right. I was pleasantly surprised about the selection of fresh sushi and flavors. This place easily earns five stars and then some. I can’t wait to keep coming back.”

“Wow, I am overjoyed to have found this absolutely beautiful gem. Jimoto is the most striking Japanese restaurant in Winnetka, and I couldn't be more pleased by the whole dining experience here! The staff are all professional and welcoming. This restaurant sets itself apart on a whole new level. With its captivating LED "jimoto" sign hung boldly against lustrous black zellige wall and beautiful paper lantern lights--this room is instantly trendsetter. The special maki rolls caught my eye as many options are finished with fried garlic or potato crumbs. Definitely a good umami crunch to an otherwise soft and fresh meat--a great balanced pairing. At jimoto, you are promised to have a great time.”

“A hidden gem! Jimoto Sushi delivers unique, flavorful twists on classic rolls. The seaweed salad + cream cheese combo was surprisingly great (8/10), the Hamachi was a standout (9.2/10), and the spicy tuna roll with wasabi aioli might be the best I’ve ever had (9.3/10!). The IPA was also a pleasant surprise—fruity, bold, and smooth (7.6/10). Not every roll was perfect, but overall this spot nails creativity and taste. 8.6/10 overall—highly recommended if you’re in Chicago.”

“Came here for a sister date <3 loved the atmosphere and the rolls are to die for !!! I recommend the chocolate strawberry cake too btw!”

“LOVE JIMOTO. Food is delicious. I must say, if you're looking for great sushi, this is the place to be. Drinks are also on point!”

“This is the North shore of Chicago's only place that I have found that has attempted to bring in modern sushi options. Novikov/Komodo/Osaka and many others in Miami, NYC, Downtown Chicago, you can expect these options. Now we have a portion of it on the North Shore. Their food is all around good. The stars of their menu are their Nigiri. 2 bites of some interesting combinations. The Wagyu pieces were delicious, but in my opinion, the simplicity of the Ikura with a quail egg yolk was sublime. I could eat just a plate of those. We had a couple of their rolls, which were good. We also had a bottle of Sake, which they had a nice selection of. I think we found our new favorite sushi place!”

“A nice new sushi restaurant. Great salads, good selection of maki and nigiri, nice cocktails and wines by the glass. Happy hour 4-6pm. Highly recommended”

“The Nigiri was extremely good, I wouldn’t recommend the Wagyu roll, you’re just paying for the name wagyu. It is unknown what type of Wagyu is used & they are smaller than bite size portions (the meat).”

“Ordered 8 different rolls and appetizers and salad. All good. Prompt service even though restaurant was very full.”

“I was an early customer at Jimoto and was impressed with their superb quality, I was excited about their food. However, during my recent visit, while the food was good, the portions were noticeably smaller, making it pricier. The nigiri remains excellent but way smaller, and the Godzilla roll had too much cream cheese for my taste, and the hand rolls were not as good as I remembered. On the bright side, the service is great—staff, owner, and bartender are all very nice. One downside was the early cleanup around 9:30 p.m., which was a bit disruptive. Overall, a good experience.”
