Pastina Eatery — Portage Park italian that most people haven't found yet. Built for a slow, quiet evening. The kind of cooking that doesn't need to explain itself. Cash only. Bobbi Triptow: "The pesto and the vodka all the sauces were incredible"

*Update Nov 2024: returned since they've expanded the menu and under new management/ownership. Service was phenomenal. It was more of an experience rather than just eating dinner. Dessert was exceptional, we tried a variety! They were also able to substitute and make accommodations for our dietary restrictions (no pork/alcohol). You must visit! My new preferred place in the area for Italian.* We got the fettuccine con pollo and pollo parmesan. The chicken parm was so good and had a generous portion! The fettuccine con pollo was light but filling, and loved the pine nuts on top. I'll be back to try the ravioli and some dessert. *heads up they are cash only or zelle*

“My experience here was quite special.”
My experience here was quite special. Both our chef and server were incredibly kind. Fernando, the chef, will walk around and ask how you are enjoying everything, and even brought us some gelato to sample. They are very generous with portions here, and the food is delicious. Definitely worth a visit if you're seeking an intimate venue for a tasty dinner.

“My mom found this little spot near her house and we’ve been hooked ever since.”
My mom found this little spot near her house and we’ve been hooked ever since. It feels like I’m eating a home cooked meal. Cash only, but I never break the bank and even if I did a little bit it would be worth it because the quality of the food is great. I added photos of the Rigatoni dish, but I’ve also gotten the Mezza Luna and that was also very delicious.

So far, great. This little place caught my eye immediately and it hasn't lost it. From the fresh, delicious pasta dishes, outstanding appetizers to the yummy gelato, if what you're craving is a cozy, quaint spot for some good food this just might be your place .

“This is a great place for homemade pasta.”
This is a great place for homemade pasta. However, I had the lemon chicken as I’m trying to eat more protein-it was delicious. Also their bruschetta was so tasty with olive oil and extremely flavorful toppings of cheese and other things. It is a small place but it accommodated us a party of eight. The owner and chef and server were very friendly. Also it is so reasonably priced. Yet you’re getting highest quality food. It would be a great place for a first date or a family dinner or lunch meeting. I had such a great time there and felt very happy because the food was so pleasing…they also have takeout!!! All I can say is we were all in consensus that Pastina Eatery was SO GOOD!

“If your looking for a true hidden neighborhood gem come to Pastina.”
If your looking for a true hidden neighborhood gem come to Pastina. I came here for Valentine's Day with my wife and had a wonderful time. The food was excellent and all the recommendations were on point. The chef was also able to make anything off menu but we went with the offerings. The Chicken Lemon I had was delicious and very well prepared with fresh capers. My wife had the chicken Vesuvio and loved her food and enjoyed the fresh mushrooms in the sauce, she said it was like eating two different meals at the same time. We also had the spinach soup which my wife fell in love with and now wants the recipe. The Bruschetta with the sweet roasted tomatoes is a must try. For dessert we topped it off with a delicious creme brulee cheese cake. Our server was very kind and attentive and everything she recommended was 5 stars. I will say this is a very date night spot and cozy space but don't let that stop you from coming with a small group of friends though I'd recommend a reservation for that. Neighborhood parking isn't too bad but I'd say give yourself a little time to get here and find a spot. I can't wait to come back and try more.
