First time at Osteria Via Stato and we had a wonderful experience. It's such a beautiful restaurant with warm cozy Italian vibes. We had a big group and everyone enjoyed dining at Osteria. The menu has a nice variety and we tried a bunch of the items. We started with the garlic bread, calamari and their famous thin crust pizzas. Each of them was a 10/10. For the main course we had the seafood stew, three different kinds of pasta. For the sides we got spinach and potato fingerlings. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was freshly prepared and was bursting in flavors. Our server was great and conscious of our dietary restrictions. He made great recommendations. We were so full with the best meal that we had no room for dessert. We need to go back again and this time I need to save room for desserts. Highly recommend this place.

OVS was the perfect spot to host our wedding this past November! From the moment we first met with the team (and had our first bite of the short rib) we knew this was where we wanted to celebrate our wedding. It is warm and inviting venue that can handle a large, lively crew - all in the conveniently located River North. Natalie could not have made it easier for us during the planning process. Her calming and professional presence made the evening run so smoothly. They even let our pup be a part of the event. We had about 160 at our wedding and every single person left happy and full. We heard countless times from guests that this was “the best food I’ve ever had at a wedding!” The service team was so accommodating. We could not recommend the venue more for your special event. Already excited to go back for anniversary dinners to reminisce on all fun!

we had our wedding here August 15th and it was amazing! the staff was great, everything was perfect and our day of coordinator was the best! 🤍 couldn’t have done it without natalie! all our guests loved the food and said they had the best time! they actually said one of the best weddings they’ve ever been to! we definitely recommend osteria for a wedding 🤍 would not change a single thing! the late night bites too! we did pizza and it was a hit! thank you so much 🤍

I would give this restaurant six stars if possible; my girlfriend and I visited Chicago for our anniversary and were in the mood for Italian, which led us to Osteria. I’ve been to Italy and have eaten Margherita Pizza at dozens of restaurants overseas, and the Margherita Pizza at Osteria stands toe-to-toe with truly authentic Italian Pizza. I was blown away! We enjoyed everything we ordered from the menu along with the cocktails. Our waiter, Antonio, was fantastic and let us hang out in his section after we finished eating until our evening reservation at the top of the Hancock Building. If you’re in the Chicago, check out Osteria and request Antonio!!!

“Easily one of the best Italian restaurants outside of Italy.”

Easily one of the best Italian restaurants outside of Italy. A seafood fanatic, I could not stop myself from ordering the fried calamari and shrimp aglio oglio. The calamari was juicy and coated with the right amount of flour to give it that irresistible crunch. The pasta was al dente and shrimps were plump and extremely fresh. I ended up finishing both dishes with zero regrets even though belly was undeniably full. Will definitely find my way back to this resto the next time I'm in town!

Ordered take out via DoorDash from my hotel I was staying at. My order was the Angel Hair Aglio E Olio as my entree and Warm Ciabatta & Roasted Garlic. Order came quickly and was hot so kudos to DoorDash on that. The food was excellent all around. Shrimp cooked perfectly as well as the pasta. Very flavorful but n each bite. The bread was also a star and was fresh and warm. The roasted garlic in the aged balsamic could be bathed in it was so good. All around just a great meal. If I can get this quality and service from a Door Dash order I’m a happy camper.

This review is for our May 2025 wedding at Osteria Via Stato, spearheaded by Natalie and her wonderful team. First off, there are scores upon scores of places you can choose to get married at in Chicago. Price, setting and offerings are all vital considerations. Osteria checked all the boxes literally on the first meeting where we were spoiled with a tasting and sneak peek at what we could expect, and this was a year in advance! We elected for a Friday night wedding with a total of 52 people and what we got was astonishing communication, service and food that our guests STILL are talking about months later. Must-haves on the menu are the short rib, the sweet pea pesto pasta, and exclusive to the wedding menu...the mac and cheese bar, our guests fell in love, one actually heard it was there and went "hold my drink" and ran for it, haha! The entire team took tender care of us and literally everything including decor drop off, set up and helping us package up our leftover favors. Music was extremely important to us as we wanted to personally Spotify DJ and their in house speaker system blew the socks off the dance floor and kept it bumping all night. We are still grinning ear to ear and cannot thank the team enough, we look forward to coming back again and again for dinner as this place will forever be special. Do not hesitate to consider Osteria Via Stato for your wedding! Ask them about our diva centerpieces, even they thought they were legendary ;)

“Tristan made my wife's night.”

Tristan made my wife's night! Lisa has a salt issue. It causes a buildup of fluid in her inner ear which causes vertigo... not fun Tristan took her salt issue very seriously and returned several times after communicating with the kitchen about the issue, to put her mind at ease. The chef accomodated her and her dinner was fabulous!!Great staff! Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Simple but great menu. Love the bread!!!! Love even about this romantic restaurant. Thanks to Tristan and the whole staff who made our experience here memorable. We will be back often. Service is always great!

This restaurant was beautifully decorated. Our party of 3 tried the Chef's Tasting Menu. Everything was incredible. Highly recommend. Great for a girls' night. Would be perfect for a romantic date night as well.
