Legno by Suparossa — neighborhood italian in Portage Park. Good cocktails round out an already strong menu. Friendly without hovering, and works for larger parties. Kathy Baran: "Their pizza is fantastic, best dough, fresh mozzarella" [$$]

We had a lovely dinner at Legno with fabulous service. Lasagna and ceasar salads were absolutely standout. All the pasta was fresh and flavorful.

I have been wanting to try Legno on Central Avenue for quite a while, and today was the day. I am so glad we did. The food was absolutely amazing! We started out with the fried calamari, that alone was five stars very tender. For the main course, we ordered Angel hair pasta with marinara sauce with a side of meatballs. Along with their margarita pizza, topped with fresh basil, San Marzano, tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. Let’s talk about their angel hair pasta with the marinara sauce. probably one of the best marinara sauces I’ve had in a long time in a restaurant. The tomatoes were sweet, not overpowered with a lot of spices. It was amazing! As for the meatballs, It was like they had Italian grandma in the kitchen, making her meatballs. Excellent! Now last, but not least, the margarita pizza it was delicious. The San Marzano tomatoes on the pizza along with the basil and the fresh mozzarella, phenomenon. It was like you were in Naples, Italy, trying one of their pizzas. Everything about it was fresh. The dough was light they use a wood-burning oven that alone tells you that pizza is going be good and it was. Our server Jimmy was phenomenal. I can’t thank him enough for his recommendations very attentive great service! from what I understand. They have daily specials and happy hour. This is a place that you need try. You won’t be disappointed.

We come here from time to time and always have a great experience. The pizza is delicious, the food is consistently good, and the service is friendly and welcoming. The place has a great atmosphere with a nice interior design, and it’s always a pleasant spot to relax and enjoy a meal. They also have a kids’ menu and even a fun Mickey Mouse–shaped pizza for children, which our kids absolutely love. It makes the place very family-friendly and enjoyable for everyone. Parking is easy to find nearby, which is another big plus. We’re always happy to come back!

Wanted to surprise my Girlfriend after a long week, with family and work and it went well sorta...... Now to explain, I made a reservation at 830 on a Sunday I dont recommend that as the kitchen closes at 9pm on Sundays which i did not know and felt horrible upon finding out. That being said, the service was amazing, my Girlfriend and I constantly apologized for coming so late as with any job we understand everyone wants to go home. Even coming so close to closing they were amazing to us, treated us as if the place was full and gave us amazing service. Food was amazing, portion sizes perfect will definitely be coming back just not before closing lol Manager reading this, again we apologize to your staff, who were nothing short of hospitable and amazing.

Our first experience at Legno was legit! The food was phenomenal, the service was outstanding and the ambiance was on point! My husband ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, and oh my goodness it was delicious! I had a hard time staying out of his plate. I had the 8 finger Cavatelli…WOW! The best I have ever had. My husband also had a Sicilian Old Fashioned and it was also very tasty! If we lived in the area we would for sure be regulars! Well done Legno!

I visited at 6 pm on a Tuesday. Food: The margherita pizza is the best marg pizza I’ve ever tried, highly recommend their pizzas in general but marg specifically. The Fettuccine Alfredo was okay, nothing special, can easily be recreated by anyone at home. And where they really dropped the ball was the fries, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst fries I’ve ever tried, overcooked with burnt ends, no any kind of seasoning expect a very light sprinkle of salt, stay away from it. The complementary bread was below average but not bad, drown it in olive oil and Parmesan and it’ll be okay. Service: Staff were neither friendly nor bad, a very average expressionless service. Atmosphere: the place was empty which is smthn I love. Great music being played at the perfect volume.
