Caesar Pierogi & Pizza Potpie — Portage Park italian that sets the standard. The decor hasn't changed, and it doesn't need to. There's imagination in the cooking here. "Their Belgian hot chocolate is incredibly creamy and flavorful, undoubtedly the best I've ever tasted" — Chloe Rose

“I’ve been wondering where the whimsy of the world has gone, turned out it’s all right here.”
I’ve been wondering where the whimsy of the world has gone, turned out it’s all right here. This is such a cute little spot! While we were here a man came in and played the piano for a while, there’s a cat that you must answer Caesar’s riddle to know her name, and the art & atmosphere is so charming. Caesar is so cute and delightful, I loved his silly, friendly, and welcoming attitude and his lil Poland flag clogs were just adorable. My partner is polish and allergic to wheat (a tragedy) and thanks to this spot she was able to have pierogi for the first time in 10 years. Also, idk why this isn’t advertised more but the tea selection was wild and unexpected in the best way possible. Something about the tea being smell tested from a cart with test tubes and steeping times measured with little minute specific hourglasses added to the whimsy of the whole experience. Thanks for a wonderful time Caesar!

“An excellent, quirky little Polish restaurant/cafe with handmade pierogi and great service.”
An excellent, quirky little Polish restaurant/cafe with handmade pierogi and great service! My mom and I drove 45 minutes on a cold Chicago night to eat here just before closing - and we're glad we did! The food was excellent - there are over 200 kinds of tea you can try (we considered coming back for the tea service alone!), as well as over 12 varieties of pierogi and delicious Polish dishes. I really liked the mushroom and mozzarella pierogi, which sounded like some strange Italian fusion until I tried it and it was just like the stewed mushrooms my Mom makes! Some of the best Polish mushroom soup I've ever had with loads of parsley, dill, and real forest mushrooms from Poland in it, as well as a tasty beet Kvass to finish it off, made it a memorable dinner. At about $30 per person for a bowl of soup, 6 pierogi, tea, and dessert, it was a solidly affordable and very tasty place to eat a full dinner out. The fun decor and variety of two-person tables made me think this would be the perfect date spot, which would probably be even cheaper. It was also decorated for Christmas when we stopped by! There are vintage-style mural decorations that I thought lent a very upbeat and cosmopolitan energy to the place, as well as a variety of antique teacups for purchase. Since we were the only people there, the proprietor also chatted with us throughout our meal - offering us a homemade dessert, explaining the different cuisines, and every once in a while trying to convince us to become Polish citizens, haha. He even stayed open late so we could finish our dinner! We really appreciated his insight and attention during our meal, and felt very at home here! If I lived nearby, I would be a regular :) One note for other patrons is that there is an (adorable!) restaurant cat, so if you are allergic to them you may want to steer clear (or eat outside!)

Christian was very attentive as soon as I came in, and did a great job of cooking and taking care of me. The space is very inviting and the pierogi were great! I also had the onion soup and the #67 Mango tea. Highly recommend both. I can’t wait to come back.

“This hidden gem is truly one-of-a-kind.”
This hidden gem is truly one-of-a-kind. Eclectic, cozy, and overflowing with charm, it beautifully blends Polish and Italian traditions into a mouthwatering menu. We stumbled upon it during our weekend trip to Chicago while searching for authentic Polish cuisine—and what a discovery. The owner, Cezary, welcomed us with such warmth and hospitality that it felt like we were guests in his own home. Despite being the only customers, he graciously stayed open well past the 9 p.m. closing time to ensure we had an unforgettable experience. From over 200 unique teas sourced from around the globe to thousands of books in five languages, this restaurant is more than a dining spot—it’s a cultural experience. And the food? Absolutely divine. The pierogies were soft, pillowy, and bursting with flavor—potato and cheese, sauerkraut and mushroom, mushroom with mozzarella, and even sweet ones filled with chocolate and fruit. Each bite was a delight. If you’re looking for an extraordinary blend of culture, conversation, and comfort food, this is the place to be. We’ll definitely be back. Cezary, thank you for the warm company, engaging conversation, and the best pierogies we’ve had in a long time.

“What a neighborhood gem.”
What a neighborhood gem! One of the best dinning experiences in a long time. My husband and I had a beautiful and delicious dinner of pierogis, tea and paczkis. We loved every bite! From choosing our tea from a wide selection delivered in a cart, opening our steaming pierogi pots , to the fluffy fresh made paczkis. The thoughtful plating and set up felt very warm and inviting. We will definitely return to try more!

Tried the sweet cheese, potato and onion, and mushroom gluten free perogis, all of them delicious. Ceasar was so kind and welcoming and his son was also super nice and very knowledgable about tea. Atmosphere was lovely and met the mayor of the restaurant (the cat). Also got some gelato and hot chocolate :P Coming back tomorrow to try the pickle soup
