“Great food and staff, it just looks like their closed. They need to have thier open sign on and have another one so poeple know their open.”

“There’s nothing quite like an Italian beef from Chicago, so it’s a must-try if you’re new to the city. Al’s is among the many popular spots to get this legendary sandwich, and I thoroughly enjoyed mine. I got the beef and sausage combo with hot giardiniera dipped into the beef gravy. It’s hard to truly encapsulate the experience of biting into your first Italian beef. I’d recommend eating in store because it’s very messy. Even the act of unwrapping your drenched sandwich is captivating. You are greeted with loads of steaming hot roast beef, a behemoth grilled sausage, and classic giard. You have to fully commit to eating this sandwich, accepting the fact that your hands will be just as wet as your sandwich by the time you’re done eating. The meat is so tender and juicy with incredible flavor. The sausage had a satisfying snap and smokiness. The giard was fairly spicy without being overwhelming. The bread is a bit soggy, but after having absorbed all that delicious gravy, it was really flavorful. The Italian beef is a mess, but a beautiful one and serves to prove Chicago’s culinary prestige!”

“I did not even needed to think what to order, staff already knew! Dipped Italian Beef! I was told that eating it will make you start speaking Italian :) Beef was tender and delicate, jus was aromatic, perfectly seasoned. Beside the food, atmosphere and staff are top notch! Al's No.1 Italian Beef is a must when visiting Chicago and wanting to try Windy City staple sandwich!”

“Anyone that doesn’t give this legendary sandwich establishment 5 stars is wild. Best Beef I have had so far. The truth is the Chicago beef doesn’t get enough credit. This place does it right. Juicy, fresh and make sure you get it dipped!”

“I don't understand why anyone would serve the food I received. The Italian sausages were horrifyingly burned beyond anything anyone should consider normal. It doesn't matter if you have proof that your food looked like charcoal; they will not want to refund or even show you basic respect. Someone in there is torching food and serving it anyway, which is bad, but the bigger problem is management/owner doesn't want to correct a situation clearly created by them.”

“I placed an order today through Uber Eats. It’s wild that they sent this food out (look at the pic). The polish was burnt, got like 2 pieces of onion and the fries were hard. I tried to call 3 times and couldn’t even leave a message bc the mailbox was full. Needless to say it was a waste of money.”
