Taste of Nepal — clean, consistent indian in Evanston. Order the Momos. The kind of spot that earns loyalty, not hype, and good for vegetarians. "The veg dish was a little on the spicy side but amazingly flavorful" — Jarcar2

Food taste is 5/5 Cleanliness is painfully 2/5 Found a cockroach in my cup of ice.
Place was stuffy. Empty at dinnertime. Worn down.
Rather disappointing. I was expecting better food quality at what seems to be an authentic restaurant.

“Hidden gem of a place that has been reliably great across multiple visits.”
Hidden gem of a place that has been reliably great across multiple visits. Family owned and run, which in my opinion adds to the charm. I’m a huge fan of spicy food, and the owner has been willing to try to burn my face off, but they will make it however you like. I don’t write reviews very often, but I really, really, want this place to stay in business!

Fantastic! Truly super people, great service and very tasty food! I will be back for sure. Menu is huge too. Something for everyone. My daughter had lamb tika, I had butter chicken and my husband had vegetarian jalfrezi. The veg dish was a little on the spicy side but amazingly flavorful!

“Tried this on a whim, daughter heading to Nepal in the future so thought I would try for her.”
Tried this on a whim, daughter heading to Nepal in the future so thought I would try for her. I've not eaten Indian food in the past. Had the samosa appetizer and chicken tikka masala, was pleasantly surprised. Got mild heat and it had a good flavor and was not over powering.

“The Tale of the Himalayan Feast Once upon a time, in a quiet village nestled between the bustling...”
The Tale of the Himalayan Feast Once upon a time, in a quiet village nestled between the bustling streets and the whispering winds, there stood a warm and welcoming inn known as Taste of Nepal. Travelers from near and far sought its doors, drawn by the promise of flavors as rich as the stories of the mountain folk. One evening, a small band of wanderers—hungry but hopeful—crossed the threshold, their hearts set on a feast fit for a king. The keeper of the inn greeted them with a knowing smile and soon placed before them a golden offering: paneer pakora, crisp and fresh. The travelers broke the warm pockets of cheese, savoring their richness but longing for a sauce to complete the tale. And so, they dipped into the tamarind chutney, tangy and deep, while wishing the coriander chutney carried more of the valley’s bold spirit. Then came the heart of the feast. Butter chicken, bathed in a sauce as smooth as the evening sky, carried whispers of spice and comfort. Lamb saag, rich with greens, spoke of the earth and the strength of the mountains. And chicken korma, mild and creamy like a lullaby, cradled tender pieces of meat so fine that even the old storytellers would nod in approval. Though the korma’s voice was quieter than the others, its warmth still lingered on the tongue. Beside these dishes lay a treasure often overlooked but never unworthy—the rice, so light and fluffy that it might have been gathered from the clouds themselves. Each grain carried the spirit of the harvest, a perfect companion to the feast. And so, as the travelers laid down their spoons and leaned back with satisfied sighs, they knew they had found a place of great hospitality, where the meals spoke of distant lands, patient hands, and the timeless art of a well-cooked meal. And thus, their tale of Taste of Nepal would be told again and again, shared with every hungry soul seeking warmth, spice, and the taste of home.

I tried this cute restaurant on Christmas 🎄 Eve because honestly the Chinese restaurants nextdoor were so flooded and noisy I would not have been as relaxed as here. I found the staff here to be quite kind and amiable and the food absolutely delicious. There are many reasonably priced menu items here that I really did have a tough time deciding which dish to try. I chose the vegetable fritters that were deep fried and vegetarian samosa just because I was craving carbs. The portions were so generous that I took half home with me and the mango 🥭 Lassi drink was just as thick and yummy as a homemade milkshake. Next time however I will make a point of trying the dumplings (momo). The calm peaceful atmosphere and non fussy setting was just perfect for a quiet Christmas 🎄 Eve dinner out for one. Oh and a nice sidenote...they bring you Papadum as a complimentary appetizer which i absolutely love. A huge thank you 😊 to the staff for being open on Christmas 🎄 Eve.

“Great experience and food with traditional Nepalese hospitality.”
Great experience and food with traditional Nepalese hospitality! Quick service ! The naan was very soft and melted in the mouth ..( literally the best I had ) The Nepali mutton curry is a must try with the right amount of spice and heat . Tea was a little cold . The veg momos were not bland like other places and had a good filling and flavor with thin handmade wrappers ( not thick market bought ) Overall worth the price ! Will definitely revisit , one of our favorites in Chicagoland for traditional Nepalese food . The owner and wait staff were very hospitable .
