We ordered take out and had bhel with it. The bhel was completely dry with huge chunks of tomatoes and barely any onions.

“My personal favorites are tandoori chicken and seekh kebab”
“Had a great first visit a month ago.”
Had a great first visit a month ago. Delicious food and great environment. Couldn’t wait to go try it again. As usual, great experience with food, service and dining experience at second visit. If anyone looking try India cuisine, this place should be your choice in downtown Elmhurst. Highly recommended.

“This is located in downtown Elmhurst.”
This is located in downtown Elmhurst. You can find a parking garage nearby. You can park for free for 4 hours and it’s minutes away from the restaurant. The restaurant is a good size. We ordered gobi Manchurian, mango lassi, Indian masala tea, Maharaj dinner special for 2, shrimp masala, lamb vindaloo, garlic naan, and tandoori royal platter. I’ve been to a number of Indian places and this place is the most generous with their food portions. Most other ones are not shareable especially for a group of 4. Prices are fair and competitive with other Indian places. Service was very friendly and attentive. The drinks are pretty good. I liked that they gave you a large glass for the mango lassi. It was creamy and flavors popped out. The Indian masala tea was good, it was savory. Fyi, if you want basmati rice you’ll have to order it separately. Most of the Indian places I’ve been to in Illinois, you have to order it separately. Overall, I give it 4.5. -gobi Manchurian 4 - this one could pass off as a Chinese dish. If you didn’t know it was cauliflower, it could easily pass off as chicken. -Maharaj dinner special for 2 5 - this comes with tandoori chicken, seekh kebab, fish tikka, chicken tikka, rogan josh, dal makhani, and sweet gulab juman. I believe the basmati rice and naan comes with this. The rogan josh is very good. The dal makhani is made up of lentils and kidney beans. I recommend using the naan and rice and eating it with the sauces. The gulab juman is a mildly sweet dessert if you don’t eat the syrup on the bottom. -shrimp masala 5 - they put in some big chunks of shrimp which is great. The sauce is medium spicy but enjoyable. This one is my personal favorite. -lamb vindaloo 5 - the medium level does pack a bit of heat. It’s still very good. Lamb cubes were very tender. -garlic naan 5 - we didn’t know that naan also comes with one of the samplers. The garlic version went fast. I’m not sure what kind are the other ones but they had a nice buttery taste. -tandoori royal platter 5 - this is a good selection of different meats if you are new to Indian cuisine. It comes with tandoori chicken, malai chicken, chicken tikka, and seekh kebab. My personal favorites are tandoori chicken and seekh kebab. The meats are all well seasoned. The tandoori chicken is very tender and juicy.

“This is one of the best indian cuisines that I have been to.”
This is one of the best indian cuisines that I have been to. A little inconveniently located, a bit on the outside of Elmhurst downtown. Make sure you park your vehicle in the public parking. Do not park in the back lot or you might get towed. Food is phenomenal there, real and authentic indian food. The service is cordial and they make you feel like you are the only guest there.

“This place is amazing.”
This place is amazing. Authentic menu. Outstanding flavor and spices. They are very courteous and actually care about your enjoyment of their great selection of food. They seemed genuinely concerned on our first visit when we ordered the Chili Garlic Paneer at the spiciest level. I feel like they remembered us on the second visit and delighted our craving for 🔥. We ordered the main dishes of Chana Masala and the Maharaj Dinner Special at a medium. The flavor profile that this brings to the food is magical. Every flavor just jumps out at you with each of the different styles of meats, sauces, and vegetables. We are not from the Chicago area, but the dinners we have had here have made this a visit to remember. Ohhhhhh. Try the Jum for dessert.

“Food is delicious and service is kind and attentive every time we come to Maharaj.”
Food is delicious and service is kind and attentive every time we come to Maharaj! Everything we have tried is delicious; our favorites go-to’s being Biryani and Behl Puri. Tandoori chicken is tender and moist with a hint of sweet smoky flavor, nice herbs and fresh vegetables accompany. 10/10 recommend in Elmhurst.

A nice Indian restaurant in elmhurst with covered parking offered by the village. The service was fast and the workers were attentive, clearing our (small) table as quickly as possible when we were done serving or eating. They also served complimentary papad in the beginning We tried their mango lassi, mutton biryani, gobi 65, tandoori. We also took the masala chai to go. Highly recommended.

“Our favorite Indian restaurant.”
Our favorite Indian restaurant! Service is unbeatable. Best butter chicken I’ve ever had. The portions are generous, we always take some home. Very comfortable dining room. Food is so delicious it feels like magic ingredients make us very relaxed after dining here. Definitely our favorite place. Pic: Lamb pasanda, Gobi matter, paneer matter, naan, rice, papad . We were in early to beat the dinner crowd. The bar area is also handicap accessible. A mango margarita for fun! Also, in the back of dinning room is huge TV. Very kid friendly place. Free parking garage. We are regulars. Can’t get enough of this place.

“The food and service are excellent.”
The food and service are excellent. It’s rare and very pleasing to find a restaurant that pays such close attention to details and goes the extra mile. Generous aromatic portions. The food is consistently delicious with the rich flavorful sauces that make Indian cuisine so delightful. The naan turns out light, soft, buttery with that perfect crisp texture from the clay ovens. Their ideal dinning experience offers very attentive staff in cozy lighting with comfortable seating. Dinning in is top notch experience. They make you feel like royalty yet so friendly you won’t want to leave. Best butter chicken. Pic: Lamb pasanda, Gobi matter, Paneer matter, naan, white steam rice, Papad
