Indus Progressive Indian — one of Highland Park's strongest indian spots. Order the Ambience. Always packed, always worth it. "The jackfruit cakes were my favorite with a crispy panko shell and spicy mirchup to dip in for extra flavor" — Sergelato

“I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant with truly delicious Indian food.”
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant with truly delicious Indian food. What I loved most was the limited but carefully curated menu—every dish we tried was full of flavor and felt thoughtfully prepared. We celebrated my birthday here, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. The crispy okra was outstanding, the palak paneer was rich and satisfying, and the complimentary pani puri added a fun touch to the evening. One small suggestion I’d make is for the mango lassi: it’s already fresh and tasty, but garnishing it with a small piece of mango, a sprig of mint, or even a playful umbrella would make it extra special. Overall, this place is definitely worth visiting again, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone who loves authentic, flavorful food paired with a welcoming atmosphere.

“Very nice Ambience.”
Very nice Ambience. Food was great, tasty and presented well. Ordered Malai chicken, tiger prawns as appetizer and chicken was so tender and awesome. Prawn was great as well. Ordered chicken biriyani, garlic naan and chicken tikka masala. All were great. Only exception was halibut fish. This was bland. One exception. Rest were so good and presented so well. Enjoyed the dinner.

Delicious. Everything we ate was well balanced flavor. Sometimes Indian food just hits you over the head. This was more refined more subtle. The biryani was a classic with tons of quality chicken. My daughter inhaled the paneer salad. Chicken wings have a heat finish but otherwise flavorful. The owners are two of the most genuine people - I’ve met them previously and they were very helpful tonight with a small mixup on my part. The restaurant was very busy (in a good way) due to a local event, and they still managed to provide great service to every table.

“A Memorable Experience on our anniversary dinner.”
A Memorable Experience on our anniversary dinner. During my recent visit to Indus, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional hospitality and outstanding food. The service was impeccable—friendly, prompt, and genuinely great to ensuring our comfort. The owner Ajit greeted each table providing menu recommendations and welcoming guests in the restaurant. As for the food, every dish we ordered was a masterpiece. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced, with each ingredient thoughtfully prepared to highlight its freshness. The crispy bhindi, lamb shank and risotto was a standout. Overall, Indus exceeded my expectations in every way. The combination of warm hospitality and delectable cuisine creates an experience that I can't recommend highly enough. I look forward to my next visit!

“Indus Progressive Indian – A Fusion of American BBQ and Indian Spices Done Right Indus Progressive...”
Indus Progressive Indian – A Fusion of American BBQ and Indian Spices Done Right Indus Progressive Indian is a culinary gem that masterfully blends the bold, smoky flavors of American BBQ with the rich, aromatic spices of Indian cuisine. From the moment you step in, the warm hospitality sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The owner personally greets guests, ensuring that every customer feels valued and engaged. The brisket was a standout—tender, perfectly smoked, and infused with deep Indian flavors that elevated it beyond traditional BBQ. The naan was flawlessly crafted, with the right balance of crispiness and softness, making it the perfect accompaniment to the meal. The fusion of flavors and techniques demonstrates a true mastery of both cuisines, offering a unique and satisfying experience. With great service, a welcoming atmosphere, and an innovative approach to food, Indus Progressive Indian is a must-visit. I look forward to returning soon to try the steak, which I expect will be just as impressive. If you appreciate bold flavors and creative fusion, this spot is not to be missed!

I highly recommend this restaurant! The flavors of the food had a perfect desi flavor with a spicy kick to it since we preferred it extra spicy! The dal was extraordinary so rich and creamy. The cream brûlée rasmalai was perfect!

“One of the best Indian restaurants in the north suburbs.”
One of the best Indian restaurants in the north suburbs. Lovely ambiance and fantastic service, they really do put in a lot of effort to get to know their guests. Highly recommend that kokum mezcal cocktail, goat biryani and lamb shank. They did a customized paneer tikka masala for one of our guests. Do feel it’s a bit on the expensive side if you are used to the traditional Indian restaurants in the suburbs, but they provide with better service and a lot more flavor creativity than more places.

“Very great experience.”
Very great experience. The owners were very welcoming and accommodating. The dishes that particularly stood out were the Indus Dal (definitely get this) and the Okra. The paneer tikka and palak paneer were also very good. This is a place worth checking out. Make sure to make reservations because this place was packed on Saturday night. For dessert, the paan ice cream is the best paan cream that I have ever had. It’s an authentic taste of what paan is really suppose to taste like. If you’re not a fan of paan, or have never tasted paan before, you probably won’t like it; paan is definitely an acquired taste.

“This is our second Sunday having brunch at Indus and it was delicious.”
This is our second Sunday having brunch at Indus and it was delicious! We have come almost weekly for dinner but brunch was on another level. The traditional South Indian dosa hit the spot, the Delhi club was insanely decadent & the chocolate chip pancakes were the perfect ending to our brunch feast.
