Gorée Cuisine — among the best seafood in Hyde Park. The kind of cooking that doesn't need to explain itself. Warm, genuine service throughout. Owner on site, vegetarian-friendly. "The salmon had a nice, light crispness on the outer skin" — Adria Husband [$$]

🌱Vegan & vegetarian friendly — real options, not one sad pasta.

The food was simply amazing. I had a layover flight in Chicago, made my way to Gorée and I must say I’m impressed. Thank you 🇸🇳

A wonderful neighborhood gem for Senegalese food - We ordered the tilapia with jollof rice, plus the lamb curry with a side of fufu, and the flavors completely blew us away! The tilapia was the standout with bold and peppery seasoning that paired beautifully with the jollof rice and vegetables. The lamb curry was also rich and flavorful, and the fufu was perfect for soaking up all the sauces. One of the most flavorful meals I’ve had in Chicago, and definitely a place I’d happily return to.

Great spot! The quality of salmon they served me was immaculate. My friend enjoyed it so much she went back with her roommate the next day! Quality, warm service, and I got four servings out of my leftovers!!! Plus the server was considerate of my friend’s Celiac disease

Best Senegalese food I have ever had. If you can only get one thing at Gorée, it’s the Yassa fish. It’s marinated beautifully and fried to perfection. The price was on the higher end but it’s a must visit for anyone in Chicago.

The food was delicious. I had the Thiou Chicken Curry with Djolof rice. The chicken had a great char and was so flavorful. The curry (more like a sauce) was sweet from the onions but spicy with back heat with lots of peppercorns and definitely other spices. The rice was also fluffy and had a good heat as well. Def want to be back to try more items

You gotta come! No other place like this. The mint tea was excellent and so was the ginger beer. I had the maffe and if you like peanuy butter you have to do it. They have generous lamb chop portions and the atmosphere was great too.

We came to celebrate our last night in Chicago to Gorée and did not leave disappointed! Cozy atmosphere, friendly service and phenomenal food. Both dishes were seasoned perfectly and everything was really tasty! We will definitely be back next time we’re in Chicago! Thank you!

I can’t express how much i admire Gorée. It’s such a beautiful space to feast whether you’re by yourself, with family, or friends. In addition to Gorée being black owned by Adama Ba. I dine here at least once a month, but as of late it’s been weekly! Gorée is the ultimate experience, as it feels like home. The service is phenomenal, the ambiance is warm, the dishes are immaculate. And chefs don’t come to play! The cuisines are vibrant, and plated with intention, while seasoned to perfection. With savory bites, derived from recipes straight from Senegal. I can feel the recipes come from tradition, love, culture, and family. As a Southside Chicagoan, Gorée is definitely a forever staple for me. Adama, the owner is for the people and it’s evident through his devotion for food, but more importantly his passion for serving the community.
