“Good food, great service, and excellent atmosphere. We got the ribeye (couldn't substitute fries btw), 1/2 chicken, gnocchi, carrots, and deconstructed (?) French onion soup. The portions are quite small as others have noted. It was the smallest 1/2 chicken I'd ever seen in my life. The gnocchi and French onion soups were our favorites. Both the mains were just fine.”

“Guys, this is the best meal I’ve had in Chicago and I’ve been to a lot of places. What Jason and team have conjured is an intimate oasis of culinary mastery. We had a cheese filled egg with diced grapes and a corn minced crust to start off, could have ate 10 of those. then we went into the best beef tartare I’ve ever had…my wife doesn’t like beef tartare, she said she loved this one We had the incredible smoked beet pickled cucumber salad with bleu cheese special, then some mussels, And a chicken la rouge confit platter with a truffle sauce on top, and finished with a special gnocchi that he basically shaved $80 worth of truffle onto. Every dish was better than the one before. Run don’t walk to this place.”
“I really enjoyed my meal here! The service was great, the salad was delicious. Very on point for the season with thinly sliced apples and beets. I ordered an NA drink it was unique and thoughtfully done. The burger was very good with a lemon aioli on the side. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with high attention to detail including how they fold their napkins. We will definitely be back for the Lavendar crème brûlée!”

“Fantastic dinner - again! There is that worry going back somewhere that was amazing. When my daughter wanted to return to Gavroche for her birthday, I hoped it would live up to our last visit. They nailed it again last night. Firstly, the intimate restaurant is comfortable and the service is fabulous including the ever present, gregarious Jason Chan who just happens to be passionate about food. And the food - so delicious, so richly French, and now I can attest consistently fantastic! The egg starter is an absolute must. Also highly recommend the foie two-ways, heirloom carrots, charred leeks, and orange duck (all repeat dishes that we devoured and considered licking the sauce from the plates!) We sampled a few specials - same amazing flavors and beautiful presentation. Add in a pair of cocktails were unique and well balanced (Dirty Word was my favorite!) and what a meal! Highly recommend Gavroche: great date spot works equally well for family dinner or out-of-town guest. Come for the food, enjoy the hospitality!”
“It's a really special thing they are doing at Gavroche. It's really hard to find a French restaurant that clearly stands above the fray and has a clear point of view, and the team at Gavroche really delivers. The chef clearly knows his classics and has the talent to riff off them: the Niçoise salad inspired crudo evokes all the flavors of the original with all surprise and joy in textures. Also kudos for playing off the humble favorite of radishes and butter with such creativity; with great success. I also loved seeing how the kitchen creatively makes uses of préparation across dishes to avoid waste. The dessert was flawless: finding a real opéra is always a treat. Wine menu really well done, cocktails delicious. And, last but not least, the sunny and lovely service we received, not only from from Dani our server, but from everyone in what is clearly a lovely, true small business. Merci!”
“Gavroche offers a unique and intimate dinner experience. We attended for my dad’s birthday dinner, but it would be great for date night or a night out with friends as well. The staff were attentive and made the experience special by describing each dish and answering all of our questions, particularly our server Brooklyn. We loved the atmosphere and each dish that came out, including my personal favorites: the French onion soup, gnocchi Parisian, and parsley rose.”

If you've had French cuisine before, I promise it wasn't like this! Each dish, better than the last, and always with a quirky, but delicious, twist on a classic! There's truly no way to describe how delectable the food was, you simply must try for yourself. Highly recommend the King Louis as well as their brilliant take on the classic French onion soup and make sure to start with the Oeuf Arpège!”
