The Allis Chicago — neighborhood food in West Loop. Clean, design-forward interior throughout. The bar is worth the visit on its own. Shikha Thakkar: "The service was impeccable and the pasta was one of the best I've tasted in Chicago"

“Came here for my birthday dinner.”
Came here for my birthday dinner. The service was impeccable and the pasta was one of the best I've tasted in Chicago. We loved the cozy vibes that this place offered especially because it was in cold, peak December.

“My friend and I had the best time at The Allis.”
My friend and I had the best time at The Allis. Shout out to Johan and Marcos for the best drinks (especially that Manhattan - not pictured though) & making our last night in Chicago so memorable!

“Came to the Allis on a weekday morning for a quick bite.”
Came to the Allis on a weekday morning for a quick bite. It did not disappoint. Salmon platter and avocado toast with poached egg were both absolutely delicious. On a weekday morning the shop it self was quite quiet, with only one other person, but we did come early and it did start to fill up when we left. Seating is very comfy and looks like a good place to work remotely. Would come again.

Had a reservation at The Allis and ordered the frose and the chicken and bacon salad with a honey mustard vinaigrette, avocado and cheddar cheese. The frose was really good and the salad was a nice portion and a burst of flavor.

“I went to The Allis for afternoon tea on my birthday with five girlfriends.”
I went to The Allis for afternoon tea on my birthday with five girlfriends. It was about $60 a person for tea and a tower of finger foods and sweet treats. You get to choose your tea flavor from many options. I mentioned my birthday and I was given a free sparkling rose and cheesecake. The server and bartender were extremely kind but the service was not the fastest. We loved the classy ambiance and bright interior. I recommend The Allis to anyone looking to chat with a date or an old friend while sipping some tea.

I happened upon this place by chance and when I noticed they served high tea, the bartender was wonderful enough to enquire on my behalf to secure me a set! The sandwiches were wonderful, the tea was a perfect match, and the bubbles added a touch of class that suited the ambiance perfectly. Very chill bohemian atmosphere for an afternoon high tea or lunchtime drinks!

“The food was very delicious.”
The food was very delicious. Yet the tea was a fantastic time that couldn't be overlooked. It's worth getting it with some cream and honey over coffee. What actually amazed me most was the staff and how well they adapted to each situation. It was nice to be accommodated and watch as others were helped given how busy it was. I was here for a birthday celebration and they were on top of it.

“Amazing atmosphere.”
Amazing atmosphere. It was perfect for casual, social or business meeting. Had very upscale look without an imposing uptight demeaner of a high end eatry. The place was very warm and welcoming The staff was very friendly and respectful The food was delicious and beautifully presented. A short menu but sufficient to cater for multiple likings. Ricotta pancake highly recommended but portion size is too big. Good for sharing or for BIG Appetite. I could finish less than half although I tried a lot 🙂 Will visit again when I am in Downtown Chicago in future.

“Čálli is a nice hidden gem with a small but refined menu.”
Čálli is a nice hidden gem with a small but refined menu. The food feels traditional yet elegant and each dish was surprising in its own way. The flavor profile and layers of depth of the Mole were fascinating and the pineapple upsidedown cake sought a nice balance between tartness and a balanced sweetness. Would definitely come back to try some of their other dishes!

“Came in for lunch on a weekday with my wife to meet up with some friends.”
Came in for lunch on a weekday with my wife to meet up with some friends. Noticed a very limited seating, so I was glad we made a reservation. The indoor seating is full of couches and sofas for guests and gives off the lounge room vibes. There is another area located in the back for dinner which displays a more intimate and restaurant feel. When you first come in you'll notice a podium with someone to greet you, but don't be fooled as they aren't for the restaurant. The real greeter for the restaurant is tucked away in the west corner of the lobby by the dinner area. The staff are quite friendly and warm for the most part. Typically easy to get a hold of, but can disappear for a bit as they have to also go to the other side of the building by the bar as other guests can be seated there due to the lack of space. Food and drinks are on the pricier side for what I'm used to in the west loop so we opted for the lunch special. The sandwich of the day was a sliced steak sandwich and it was divine. Acidity from the pickled onions, bitterness from the kale and the steak well seasoned. The salad wasn't as bad as well, tasted typical, so I might try the soup next time. I noticed someone else ordered it and it appeared to have the golden color of a squash or turmeric with diced carrot and onions.
