“The rice ball, shaobing sandwich with braised beef and pickled veggies, the hot rice drink, the popcorn chicken, and the oolong tea made a wonderful meal, but the highlight was definitely our conversation with the hostess (chef’s cousin) about her background and our families’ immigration stories and our shared love for Taiwan”

“Came here on a Monday night during restaurant week.”
Came here on a Monday night during restaurant week. I love that the menu allowed one to try a bit of every part of the menu, from apps, desserts to rice and noodles. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuine. Blanched cabbage may seem unassuming at first, but came with a savory, tangy sauce that dressed up a warm, comforting dish. The fried chicken was perfect - crispy and well-seasoned on the outside and juicy on the inside. I liked the flavor of the luroufan, but can see that some people might not be a fan of the slipperyness of the shiitake mushrooms in the dish (I like it, though, unexpected in luroufan for me). I highly enjoyed the zhajianmian as well. They say the noodles are made in-house and you can certainly taste the difference. The rich and savory tian mian sauce was well-balanced by slivers of crunchy cool cucumbers. We also got the four gods beef noodle soup, which was the more clear broth, compared to the red braised. I'm a hugeeee fan of the tender braised beef and gelatinous tendons. Soup had a beautiful natural beef bone flavor, that takes a second to appreciate. I'd say I would have liked to have a pinch more salt for my palate, but you know they definitely didn't skimp out on the good stuff. I didn't think I'd enjoy the cocktails as much as I did, but the mixologist sure knows what he's doing. Well-balanced yet complex flavors that celebrate the unique ingredients of Taiwanese cuisine (sour plum shrub, Hawthorne berry, ginger, black sugar, etc) in various forms. Pineapple tart was a tad sweet for my taste, but I can see how it could go very well with vanilla ice cream. Excellent crust and reminiscent of a very fresh Taiwanese style pineapple cake. All in all an excellent experience that has me excited to come back and try all the other thoughtful dishes on the menu!

“I've visited Minyoli twice, once for lunch and once for dinner.”
I've visited Minyoli twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both experiences were excellent. The food was consistently delicious, and the beef noodle soup (niu rou mian), while a bit different from the traditional style some might expect, reflects Chef Rich’s authentic personal approach. I would definitely return. Bonus: there’s plenty of convenient street parking nearby.

Found this place quite randomly but felt welcomed and at home as soon as we entered. We ordered Taiwanese breakfast since these are hard to find and we were not disappointed! The rice ball, shaobing sandwich with braised beef and pickled veggies, the hot rice drink, the popcorn chicken, and the oolong tea made a wonderful meal, but the highlight was definitely our conversation with the hostess (chef’s cousin) about her background and our families’ immigration stories and our shared love for Taiwan. Wish we lived in Chicago so we can visit more.

“This place has great Taiwanese food.”
This place has great Taiwanese food. the ambiance and vibes are so cute and cozy and feels like I am in a small restaurant in Taiwan. Not sure of the negative reviews out there, but I got the beef noodle soup and thought it was decent. It’s not like amazing Michelin / award winning beef noodle soup you get in Taiwan, but it is worth trying! The jiajiang noodles tastes like the (old taste) noodles in Taiwan, so I definitely recommend. The owners seem to love cats, which is an added bonus. The cocktails were great as well. I did go during lunch so there were lunch specials and no wait.

“Amazing experience overall.”
Amazing experience overall. We made reservations for Saturday evening; got sat quicky-- the space is beautiful and simply decorated. We ordered mocktails: nightmarket fruit stand and sour plum.. both we good and had unique flavors. We got fried chicken as an appetizer and it was super good, so much flavor and easy to eat. I could of eaten the whole thing by myself. Our entrees-- were fantastic. We ordered the spicy tallow and the beef noodle soup with tendons. The soup was excellent and the tendons just melts in your mouth. The beef broth was the best I've had at a restaurant (perfect for fall weather). Finally, we ordered the cheesecake, it was good but not memorable. I look forward to trying other items on the menu in the future.

“Great service and great food.”
Great service and great food! Friendly staff that explained the dishes well. Not many places (if any) that serve this level of quality of Taiwanese food Very cozy and modern atmosphere like many newer Chicago restaurants.

“Stopped in for dinner after bouncing around.”
Stopped in for dinner after bouncing around. Amazing service. Sat outside and staff were super welcoming. Chef and owner came out to tell us the history of the cuisine. The cocktail, food and service were on point. Will definitely save for future visits.

“Minyoli offers authentic Taiwanese food with innovative twist.”
Minyoli offers authentic Taiwanese food with innovative twist. Highly recommend the beef noodles soup as the broth is savory and beef is super tender. The portion is big and filling. I tried many of the appetizers and desserts and nothing disappointed me. I recommended the street corn, fried chicken, and their pineapple pies and Goji ice cream. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. Food served fast. It is ideal place for dating or meeting up friends.
