Ken's Diner & Grill — one of Skokie's strongest vegan spots. The kind of place your parents probably knew about too. Creative without being gimmicky. Or li: "Atmosphere was really nice and the place is charming; you must try the shakes"

The lady who greeted us as we walked in and took our order at the counter was very friendly and welcoming.

My family and I dined here on a Sunday evening and it was reasonably busy, but we didn't have a line to order and found seating and parking easily. Ordering and picking up food is done at the counter, but everyone is super friendly and helpful. I got the Bay Ken Mushroom burger, which was huge and perfectly cooked. The fries were fresh and super good. I also got a non dairy milkshake which was fine. My only problem was that most of the fountain sodas were out. It was a good meal at a normal price for kosher meat meals. I would visit here again.

“Delicious kosher diner with a nostalgic and friendly atmosphere.”
Delicious kosher diner with a nostalgic and friendly atmosphere. Perfect for gluten free and vegan folks as well. My boyfriend got the pastrami on marbled rye and I got mine on a GF bun. They also will fry the fries in a dedicated fryer if you’re vegan/gluten free. We absolutely will be back and greatly appreciated the hospitality & delicious eats!

“Best burger in the world.”
Best burger in the world. It also happens to be a fully certified Kosher facility, by the highest levels of certification. But I digress... I have given a review on multiple occasions, but I try to update my review on this specific Diner at least twice a year. Because it's not just the best Kosher food, rather simply THE GOAT in game! The sports-based theme that surrounds you, creates a phenomenal ambiance, is very old school, and rare. There is nowhere else to go where you can also watch the local game as you eat... in addition, It's still owned and operated by one of the two brothers who had opened this restaurant so many years ago. It's a staple in the Chicagoland area, and a highlight in Skokie and Evanston neighborhood. The food is the best, the service is the best, and it's the only place that I know of, with the foot traffic that it sees, where the owner is willing to sit down and say hello no matter what.. it says a lot about the person, but of course the place as well!

“They made me a custom breakfast on the spot in the afternoon because I asked them for it.”
They made me a custom breakfast on the spot in the afternoon because I asked them for it. Basically if you ask and you're patient Ken's diner will try their best to meet your requests. If you have an issue just let them know and they usually just make it right no drama :-)

“Burger was nicely charred.”
Burger was nicely charred. The hot chicken poppers were so juicy and delicious! The Chicago style puppy dog had a mountain of toppings and probably didn’t need that much, but the hot dog itself was great! They have options for fountain and canned drinks.

“Such a cool experience.”
Such a cool experience. Not so often do vegans get the same full variety and authentic diner experience. The vegan menu had so many options and the prices (kosher + vegan!) were unbeatable. Highly recommend the vegan hot dog and milkshake, and the fries were perfect. Such friendly staff too!

“Ken's Diner is a must stop when in the Chicago area.”
Ken's Diner is a must stop when in the Chicago area. My family and I chose to stop in for lunch, and we were handled with 5 star service, as the folks there are literally as nice as it gets. We were all in awe at how cool the diner is set up. The blending of sports memorabilia and antiques from your grandparents era makes for a unique ambience. There truly is no comparison in the kosher food establishment world! Lastly, the food absolutely lived up to the hype. If I were to recommend a menu item, I would say the "Burger Buddy." Go see Ken's Diner for yourself!
