Jim's Original — straightforward hot dogs in Roscoe Village. Walk in and you know immediately: this place is real. This is cooking with real conviction. Priced right. Tony Recktenwald: "Best kind of spot- small but varied menu where everything on the menu is great"

“I don’t love their base toppings (mustard & grilled onions) but fries come with the entree & they have ketchup packets if you prefer that”
I ordered the pork chop bone in. There bone keeps getting bigger so less meat and more bone.
Good food however the staff need to pay attention to what they do so that they don’t mess up orders.
I went the day after grand opening and eh, nothing special.

“Nothing fancy but clean and friendly staff with good affordable food.”
Nothing fancy but clean and friendly staff with good affordable food. Pork chop sandwich was tasty and was the best polish dog I’ve had in Chi. Fries were good and plentiful too. Not going to wow you with the presentation but flavor and taste were great.

“If you want an authentic maxwell street polish this is the place to get some.”
If you want an authentic maxwell street polish this is the place to get some. Fries were HOT just made. The sausage was big. The peppers were a bit more vinegary than I like however this is the classic presentation. All good. Food served on a metal tray not the cheap plastic ones everyone else uses.six dollars and change for a polish and fries is a good deal.

“Delicious food at a reasonable price.”
Delicious food at a reasonable price! I tried them for the first time today and loved it. The place is nice, clean, plays fun music, has quick service, and has a classic atmosphere. I also appreciated that sandwiches come with fries. (Fries are pictured below. I ate my hot dog too fast before I even thought to take a picture.) I highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area!

“True to the original on Maxwell St.”
True to the original on Maxwell St. Hot dog was good. I'd never had a pork chop sandwich. Ordered one, like it, would order one again. Fries were golden and tasty.

“This is a no frills greasy grill joint.”
This is a no frills greasy grill joint. They have a limited menu but what they do have is great. They will take condiments off but will not substitute which is fine in my eyes. The quality of ingredients is top quality and the prices are cheap. This is a great spot for a good quality quarter pounder burger. We'll definitely be trying the bone in pork chop sandwich next time. They also have a drive-thru!

“I'm actually bewildered at the people who have given this place middling reviews or outright one stars.”
I'm actually bewildered at the people who have given this place middling reviews or outright one stars. Cold Polish's? Sour ketchup?? Are you literally making excuses to vent frustrations from your home or work life in a Google Review?? Sad people! This place is a new Jim's location on the corner and it's great to see another local eatery, that's Chicago native, pop up conveniently close to my work. When I stepped inside the place was nearly compact and very clean. You could see mounds of caramelized onions on the griddle alongside rows of polishes. I missed seeing things like that when I was kid, it's just like an old dog place or the original Jim's location! My order was super cheap and I was amazed it came with fries, way too many places are so hypnotized with $ that they forget that you really get moolah when you provide excellent food and man, this place has some great food! Order came out in less than 5 minutes, Polish was fresh off the griddle and the onion son top were incredible. Fries were nice and crispy with a little softness on the interior (my favorite) and it came with too small unassuming peppers. Careful, they're SUPER spicy! But the staff was quick, professional and when I left I was wished a good day and to take care. I genuinely don't think 85 percent of the people on this review know what a dog place is like, a REAL dog place and are expecting a silver buffet platter served to them while a waiter serenades them when they eat. Get your priorities straight, understand that the people behind the counter are human beings and don't make things up because you're mad for the day. That's childish and makes you look stupid. This is a great little place that stays true to the original Jim's and I love that I have a new, good place to eat!

“It's not a real Chicago dog.”
It's not a real Chicago dog. It's still good. And the peppers have a nice kick to it. These may be the best fast food fries in the area. And all the Chicago Blues you can eat!

“The polish sausage with grilled onions was really good though it had a ton of mustard.”
The polish sausage with grilled onions was really good though it had a ton of mustard. Chicago dog is not a Chicago dog. It only had onion, mustard, and sport peppers. Mostly Everything comes with fries. Only $12 spent. It had a nice, clean dining area. Employees were really nice.
