B&Q Afro Root Cuisine

4.3236 reviews ·Opens at 11AM

B&Q Afro Root Cuisine stands out for smoky, well-seasoned jollof rice, rich egusi and ogbono soups, and generous plates of fufu with goat, cow’s leg, or fried fish—often enough to share. Regulars love the authentic Nigerian flavors, affordable portions, and homey, easygoing atmosphere that feels like a neighborhood living room. Service is warmly praised by many, though some guests report inconsistent hospitality and occasionally tough meat.

We were greeted when we walked in, and felt very welcome. She helped with some recommendations, I loved it. Super authentic and that’s what I was looking for. I walked out struggling from eating so much. I couldn’t eat more if I wanted to, Lol. My plate was on the right, btw!

Very homey vibe; felt like I was in a living room. The egusi and fufu were quite good, though the chicken was tough.

I Tried to dine-in here to see if my last experience would be better this time around the lady just gave me ugly stares as soon as I walked in and as I was trying to place my order she walked off as I was talking so I just left she’s very rude and giving jealous vibes I’ll never come back and if you want good customer service go to comfort food on Broadway and the food Is the best

The best African dishes restaurants in Chicago. The customer service was great, and the food was very affordable.

I was there last night and the Food is amazing. The portions are great. We got there at 8:40pm and they allowed us to dine in. Customer service is good. This is now one of my favorite spots for Egusi.

First time trying ogbono (I chose cows leg, goat meat, and fried fish) with fufu and it was fantastic. I would come again if I'm in the area. Seems like a hub for locals to chat it up and I can't blame them because the food is tasty and the environment is very easygoing

Food was amazing! Jollof was smoky and well seasoned. Large portions that fed several people from 2 plates. Egusi and fufu was delicious. My uncle and brother kept complimenting the taste of everything. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in Chicago.
