Warm and welcoming atmosphere. The sambusa is crispy and a great appetizer. The veggie platter is a must-order and pairs perfectly with extra protein options like key wot and yebeg tibs. Ethiopian coffee is freshly toasted from Ethiopian beans and thoughtfully served in an elegant container, with burning frankincense resin and popcorn on the side. Highly recommend!

One of the best Ethiopian restaurants I have been to in a long time. As an Ethiopian, the place reminds me of home. Amazing food all the way around and great service. Kitfo, doro wot, and shiro went favorite. The veggies were a perfect combination to bring the dish together. Somewhere I’d be happy to come back to again.

“First time here, and I wasn't disappointed.”

First time here, and I wasn't disappointed. I was in need of a new Ethiopian spot in and found Michuu. You are greeted with an Ethiopian coffee set at the front which I would've ordered if I didn't have to wake up early tomorrow. Got myself the Veggie Platter and 2 lentil Sambusas. The crispyness of the lentils made me devour it before it can cool down, and when the Veggie Platter arrived, I knew I was in for a good time. Of all the toppings on the platter, I am the biggest fan of beetroot, cabbage, and chickpeas. On a cold afternoon on a day I'm free, I'm definitely taking friends here for some crispy sambusa, delectable platters, and enjoy coffee from its original birthplace.

“We had an amazing dinner at Michuu.”

We had an amazing dinner at Michuu. We got the veggie/vegan combo for 2 (pictured). Their injera is also 100% teff and gluten free, which can be hard to find. I think this is one of the best Ethiopian food and injera I’ve ever had (and I’ve been to places all over the country). The service was also outstanding, very friendly and even offered us some delicious honey wine to try!

“I have been addicted to Ethiopian food since first trying it in 1987.”

I have been addicted to Ethiopian food since first trying it in 1987. There have been really many great Ethiopian restaurants in Chicago over the decades, but unfortunately not all of them lasted. Michuu took me back to that first experience with unbelievable flavors, colors and presentation. The freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee at the end was the Coup de grâce. The portions were great and it was probably the first time that we didn't have to ask for extra injera. From a standpoint of someone who's been at this for a pretty long time, I'd have to declare Michuu the finest Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant in Chicago.
