My first time having lunch at Shanghai Terrace. Let’s start with the sparkling water, it was warm.
An article in the New York Times said Shanghai Terrace was one of the best restaurants in Chicago. Sadly, I disagree.

Food was amazing, the lobsters rolls and the Peking duck are a must! Smokey cocktail was great as well. The mango pudin is out of this world ✨✨ the attention is impeccable. Since it was my anniversary I was expecting like a dessert with a candle or something hehe but everything else was fantastic.

What a wonderful restaurant! Love the old style elegance, our server Christina was fabulous, and the terrace was a wonderful experience. The quiet background Chinese music adds to the atmosphere. Great presentation with the food, and can't wait to come back.

This is a high end Chinese restaurant, as you would expect. The patio was really nice, shaded. I was disappointed by the seabass but would come here to try more dishes in the future. The mango Peninsula dessert was very good!

Needless to say, the Peninsula does an amazing job of creating a wonderful dining experience at this spot, located on the 4th floor of the hotel. Cocktails, wine and a curated sale menu complement the traditional Chinese dishes perfectly. This is a great place to share some dim sum and a plate of delicious meats, fish or fried rice. You won’t be disappointed.

The food is delicious. Peking duck is hands down the best you can find in town. Our server is great! We enjoyed our dessert a lot too and Mango pudding is a must try!

“What a delicacy of an experience.”
What a delicacy of an experience. Went with a local friend. The food here is some of the best, and the service is all-around friendly professionals working as a true team. We asked the chef to send different foods and to include Duck (perfect duck). We need to come back when the weather permits terrace dining. Simply delightful!

My husband took me here for my birthday dinner and we had a phenomenal experience! First of all, the staff are all so friendly and helpful; they immediately set the ambiance while seating you. The outdoor terrace had such a great energy about it and was a great spot to enjoy our meal. The pork dumplings were very juicy and flavorful, the scallops were melt-in-your mouth good (although the picture doesn’t do them Justice), and the Kung Pao Chicken was incredible. We also both loved our cocktails! In addition, the restaurant brought a complimentary dessert to help make my birthday that much more special. We would definitely come here again!

“I really liked this place.”
I really liked this place. We were hoping for some late night outdoor dining but the night we were there the weather was rough. But inside was pretty elegant. Understand this restaurant is part of a hotel building which was very elegant and we spent time actually exploring some of the public areas which you can see in my pictures. One important point. I felt way underdressed in shorts and a tee. This place is pretty dressy which makes it a good spot for a special date and not ideal for kids but I'm sure they are welcome. “One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.”
One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! All of the food that we ordered was absolutely perfect! The scallops were buttery smooth, the dumplings were firm and not sticky and the lobster came with A LOT of lobster! The staff was so intentional about the way that they served. They laughed with us and treated us so well! If you get the chance, sit outside on the terrace. It’s probably the most secluded feeling area in the entire city. Cannot reccomend this place enough!
