“I finally had the chance to visit Garifuna Flava in Chicago Lawn, and it was an amazing first experience with Belizean cuisine! Everything was packed with flavor. The oxtails were tender, the jerk chicken was delicious, and the rice and plantains were the perfect sides. I also really enjoyed the fish empanadas—they were a pleasant surprise. The only thing that wasn't my favorite was the potato salad, but that's just because I'm very picky about potato salad, so that's no fault of the restaurant. The restaurant has plenty of seats, and is great for a date night. Considering how much goes into cooking this food, the service is quite fast. If you're in the Chicago Lawn area and looking to try something new, I definitely recommend stopping by Garifuna Flava. I'll definitely be back!”
“From the London family of the Chicagoland area and Naples, Florida: On Friday, May 9, 2026, we had the honor of catering our late brother Phillip London’s memorial service with his favorite foods from Garifuna Flava: A Taste of Belize. The ordering process was simple, fast, and professional. I even called from Florida to add additional items, and Hussein and his wonderful mother graciously accommodated all of our culinary needs. Our family and friends enjoyed mouthwatering jerk chicken, flavorful beef patties that were absolutely fire, rich oxtail stew that may be the best around, and a lip-smacking caramel-covered pound cake that everyone loved. No one came to the memorial service with that “pay respects and leave” feeling — the food, music, love, and fellowship created a beautiful celebration of Phillip’s life. My brother Michael kept the atmosphere warm and uplifting by DJing classic 1970s R&B music, opening the gathering with a heartfelt prayer and loving tribute. Roxanne organized a beautiful venue, and cousin Bunky’s famous coleslaw complemented the meal perfectly. Guests were going back not just for seconds or thirds, but fourths, fifths, and even sixths for more of the incredible food from Garifuna Flava: A Taste of Belize. It was truly special watching people from all walks of life come together to share memories, laughter, and love in honor of our brother. The staff from Garifuna Flava: A Taste of Belize, along with Zifty’s delivery and setup team, exceeded our expectations by providing a hassle-free, delicious, and beautifully presented culinary experience for Phillip London’s memorial service at the Willard Wood Park Center in Crete, Illinois. Sauce for the rice and chicken good as well not over powering. Great Belizean food. Cabbage and macaroni is good. But please don’t forget to grab you some Belizean potato salad yum.”

Me and my boyfriend got beef Pattie’s, Small stew chicken and large oxtail with Mac, sweet potatoes, cabbage, and rice and peas and cake. Beef patty 5/5 (wish is was spicy but flavor and texture was insane) Chicken 84848299/5 Oxtail 8284838/5 Mac 3.8/5 (you know it’s hard to find good Mac. The sauce was broken but flavor was still pretty good ) Sweet potato 5/5 (wish I got more than three though) Cabbage 6/5 Rice and peas 4.5/5 just A LIL undercooked Oh and that hood classic Caramel cake?????? 100000000000000/1 I forget to get good pics bare with me”
“The chicken is good 8 out of 10. The rice was seasoned well just cheap on the peas 6 out of 10. Plantains good just a Lil darker than I like 7 out of 10. No bread! How dare they! Customer service 8 out of 10. Overall 8 out of 10.”
“I was in town for a few days and I wanted some good Caribbean food. Saw this restaurant had hundreds of good reviews so I ordered delivery but end up extremely disappointed. The jerk chicken I received was completely undercooked, actually raw in the middle. Because it was delivery, it was even more frustrating to discover once it arrived. For the price and the reputation, I expected much better. I hope they improve their cooking standards but even so, I won’t be ordering again.”
