“Amazing. Stopped there for some bread for work and will be coming back for sure. Owner is amazing as well. Give this a place and you will be coming back.”

“Hidden gems in Chicago always end up being the places that leave the biggest impression, and for me that place is Capital Bakery. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, welcoming, and comforting. The smell of fresh baked bread and pastries instantly makes you feel at home. It’s one of those places that feels special the second you step through the door. The baked goods here are absolutely amazing. Everything tastes fresh, soft, flavorful, and made with real care. Their Capital Bakery bread is honestly one of my favorite things they’re fresh, delicious, and perfect every single time. You can tell they put effort and love into what they make instead of just rushing things out like many places do nowadays. What also makes this bakery stand out is the people. The worker there was incredibly sweet, kind, and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Good customer service can completely change how a place feels, and she truly made us feel appreciated and comfortable. I also love the overall look and feel of the bakery. It has such a cozy and relaxing vibe that makes you want to stay longer and keep coming back. Places like this are hard to find now. If you’re ever in Chicago and looking for fresh baked goods, amazing bread, and a genuinely nice atmosphere, Capital Bakery is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommended!”

“My 10 year old nephew loves bread. For his birthday I picked up a loaf of white bread from Captain Bakery as a special treat and he loved it. Now he specifically asks for “the perfect bread” before every family gathering.”

“We drove to this bakery from the north side in search of mooncakes, and found so much more. We tried the mango pudding, Macau egg tart, sponge cake, and the mooncakes, and everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. If it wasn’t 15 miles away I’d be here every week! The woman serving us was friendly and helpful in answering questions, and the atmosphere was clean and bright with big windows and display cases. They do take credit cards in addition to cash, but there’s an additional fee, so save your pennies and just buy with cash. The prices are very reasonable. Wonderful spot!”

“A hidden gem of a chinese bakery in Bridgeport/McKinley area. They have a great variety of Cantonese buns and other pastries. The food reminds me of how real old school Cantonese buns should taste. Better than the big bakeries in Chinatown. These are fresh and taste like they are made with quality ingredients. The prices are reasonable and cheap compared to the big names in Chinatown. Highly recommend you give them a try. Seating is limited to 4 window counters. Cash is preferred but credit cards requires 4% transaction fee.”

“They sell good bread, coffee, smoothies, and teas ! I really liked the bbq pork bun and egg tart.”

“Such a sweet family! The banana rice cake blew my mind. I am a texture girl all the way.”

“The baker was very nice. I loved the dough in the melon pastry, and the filling in the chicken curry. The melon filling was okay”
“My favorite bakery in the city. Selection is great and prices are even better. They honestly need to raise the prices, they deserve it.”
“Such a lovely, kind-hearted family runs this place 💛😊, and you can really feel the warmth as soon as you walk in. The banana rice cake absolutely blew me away 🤯🍌-the flavor was incredible, but what really stood out was the texture. If you’re someone who cares about how food feels as much as how it tastes, this is a dream come true! The balance was just perfect-soft, slightly chewy, and super satisfying 😋✨. I’m all about texture too, and this dessert completely won me over. Definitely something I’d come back for again and again! 🍰👏”
