Rivers and Roads Cafe — well-regarded cafe in Rogers Park. The kind of cooking that doesn't need to explain itself. Friendly team that sets the tone. "The menu is always evolving, which makes every visit feel fresh and exciting" — Jess Manavian [$, patio]

🌱Vegan & vegetarian friendly — real options, not one sad pasta.
☀️Patio — a Rogers Park classic in summer.

The themeing is absolutely adorable as someone who loves our national parks, and the food is quite tasty. I had the vegan breakfast sandwich and was impressed. I wish some of the drinks were labeled more clearly on whether they are vegan or can be veganized. Some will have a vegan ingredient labeled but themselves are not vegan, which I find confusing. Really nice place to stop for breakfast or s coffee.

This isn’t just a café it’s part of the neighborhood. The staff greeted me by name within minutes of arriving, and the space felt intentionally unhurried. They offer a small, curated menu avocado toasts, cold brews, seasonal baked goods each dish crafted without fuss. I sipped a cold brew that was crisp and juicy, not watered down. With its soft chatter and welcoming seats, this café feels like one of those places you remember long after you’ve left.

I got the chicken chorizo breakfast sandwich that has a great aioli sauce with it. The butter croissant I got was a little cold but this is my second time coming here and it doesn’t disappoint!

This is place is absolutely amazing! Coffee is phenomenal, staff is so kind, and they work very efficiently considering how busy they always are! My go to order is the Salted Mable Latte and the Garden Bagel (photo below) I definitely recommend it!

One of the best Chicago coffee shops! 5 stars all the way around…customer service, coffee, food and atmosphere. I just moved here and I’m so excited to make myself a regular here!

I absolutely love visiting beautiful places with great service, and Rivers & Roads Café is exactly that. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the staff is always warm and friendly, and their drinks are simply incredible. Every sip feels like it’s made with care, and it’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer just to soak it all in. Definitely one of my favorite spots!

Best Lox on the north side! It’s an elevated savory experience that I didn’t expect after many years of NYs lower east side bagels. Prepare yourself!

You can tell this place is beloved by the locals - even at 7/8 am, there is a line (not a crazy one but longer than one would suspect). After coming here a few times, I can see why! The staff is so kind and personable with the patrons; they play with children and ask folks how they're doing. It is very small town in a big city vibes and THAT is what Edgewater and Roger's Park is all about. The coffee is good and the prices are fair - and it has a great vibe for meeting friends, a first date, or a short meeting. 10/10 recommend.
