Caesar Pierogi & Pizza Potpie
Caesar Pierogi & Pizza Potpie — Portage Park italian that sets the standard. The decor hasn't changed, and it doesn't need to. There's imagination in the cooking here. "Their Belgian hot chocolate is incredibly creamy and flavorful, undoubtedly the best I've ever tasted" — Chloe Rose [$$, patio]

“Caesar Pierogi has been a bit of a family tradition. The wide selection of gluten free pierogi is amazing and the atmosphere can't be beat. We ♥️ Caesar Pierogi!”

“Absolutely delicious! I wish we had tried this place years ago when we moved to the neighborhood. We loved every type of pierogi we tried and the pickle soup was incredible. Friendly service and a lovely little outside table. This place is a real gem.”

“Omg this place is AMAZING!!! The decor is so cool and cozy, the soup and pierogi are delicious, and the staff is super friendly and attentive!! I can’t wait to come back!!! ❤️🥰 🇵🇱”

“What a fun and unique experience! Such a quaint and intimate little place that feels like it was pulled straight out of some side street in europe. While the pace of service is a bit eccentric it was always thoughtful and attentive. The food was unique, fun, and tasty. And the tea selection was unreal. They literally wheel out a cart of tea leaves in test tubes for you to smell and a binder with over 200 different teas. So wild! They were wonderful hosts who you could tell truly cared about taking care of us. Highly recommended!”

“Best surprise of 2025! If you're a tea lover go here. If you love homemade soup, go here. If you love great service, go here. If you love a venue with character, interesting decor and makes you never want to leave, go here. Thank you for being an amazing local tea shop with amazing food!!”

“Amazing lil place! Cozy, unique atmosphere. Excellent service. Loved our server! The pierogis were EXCELLENT! So excellent, I forgot to take a picture of them! The mushroom one was my absolute favorite! Asparagus soup was yummy. Also had the creme brule which was delicious. You HAVE to get their dark hot chocolate! It's thick and rich. And try one of their 200 teas! Everything was amazing! Would highly recommend!”

“I’ve been wondering where the whimsy of the world has gone, turned out it’s all right here. This is such a cute little spot! While we were here a man came in and played the piano for a while, there’s a cat that you must answer Caesar’s riddle to know her name, and the art & atmosphere is so charming. Caesar is so cute and delightful, I loved his silly, friendly, and welcoming attitude and his lil Poland flag clogs were just adorable. My partner is polish and allergic to wheat (a tragedy) and thanks to this spot she was able to have pierogi for the first time in 10 years. Also, idk why this isn’t advertised more but the tea selection was wild and unexpected in the best way possible. Something about the tea being smell tested from a cart with test tubes and steeping times measured with little minute specific hourglasses added to the whimsy of the whole experience. Thanks for a wonderful time Caesar!”

“An excellent, quirky little Polish restaurant/cafe with handmade pierogi and great service! My mom and I drove 45 minutes on a cold Chicago night to eat here just before closing - and we're glad we did! The food was excellent - there are over 200 kinds of tea you can try (we considered coming back for the tea service alone!), as well as over 12 varieties of pierogi and delicious Polish dishes. I really liked the mushroom and mozzarella pierogi, which sounded like some strange Italian fusion until I tried it and it was just like the stewed mushrooms my Mom makes! Some of the best Polish mushroom soup I've ever had with loads of parsley, dill, and real forest mushrooms from Poland in it, as well as a tasty beet Kvass to finish it off, made it a memorable dinner. At about $30 per person for a bowl of soup, 6 pierogi, tea, and dessert, it was a solidly affordable and very tasty place to eat a full dinner out. The fun decor and variety of two-person tables made me think this would be the perfect date spot, which would probably be even cheaper. It was also decorated for Christmas when we stopped by! There are vintage-style mural decorations that I thought lent a very upbeat and cosmopolitan energy to the place, as well as a variety of antique teacups for purchase. Since we were the only people there, the proprietor also chatted with us throughout our meal - offering us a homemade dessert, explaining the different cuisines, and every once in a while trying to convince us to become Polish citizens, haha. He even stayed open late so we could finish our dinner! We really appreciated his insight and attention during our meal, and felt very at home here! If I lived nearby, I would be a regular :) One note for other patrons is that there is an (adorable!) restaurant cat, so if you are allergic to them you may want to steer clear (or eat outside!)”

“Christian was very attentive as soon as I came in, and did a great job of cooking and taking care of me. The space is very inviting and the pierogi were great! I also had the onion soup and the #67 Mango tea. Highly recommend both. I can’t wait to come back.”
