“It's not a very large place, but the food was excellent and the service was great.”

“my favorite place in chicago! the borek is life-changing, and the woman who runs it is a national treasure”

“I say that a lot but - best Balkan food in the city. And the owner is a fantastic sweetheart”

“Burek Shop was amazing. I’ve never had Eastern European food before, and it was stellar. We had the potato, beef, and onion Burek, the shopka salad, and the pork & beef ćevapi. It was all amazing, very homemade and comforting. Lilliana works the kitchen with her daughter Maria at the front, and they are lovely people. I can’t recommend this spot enough!”

“Hard to find Balkan food in the city, so glad we randomly found this place! It’s run by the sweetest woman and her daughter. All the food is made from scratch, which you could immediately tell from first bite. We got the beef cevapi, shopska salad and two bureks. We had the spinach, feta and beef and onion burek, they were so flaky, buttery and soft! The best I’ve ever had! Also had traditional Turkish coffee which is a rare find in Chicago. Would highly recommend dine in or take out. Will definitely come back!”

“Family run shop with authentic food. Portions are massive and tasty. The people running it love what they do and it shows.”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you’re anywhere near North Chicago, this place is an absolute hidden gem. Family-owned and full of heart, you can feel the warmth the moment you walk in. The hospitality is genuinely amazing—they treat you like you’ve been coming there for years. The food is just as impressive. You have to try the burek—it’s perfectly flaky, rich, and packed with flavor. And the ćevapi? Easily some of the best around, juicy and cooked just right. Spots like this are rare. Authentic, welcoming, and consistently delicious. Definitely worth going out of your way for.”

“We were in Chicago and wanted to stop for some cevapi and found this little spot. OMG what a gem! This is the cutest, coziest little serbian restaurant. The owner was so friendly and kind to us and all of the other guests who were there. Baba is literally making the burek and cevapi in the back, I don’t think you can get more authentic than this! The kajmak served is sooooo good, as is the bread. Absolutely loved this spot! We don’t have good cevapi on the west coast so this was such a treat and one of the highlights of our trip, thank you : )”

“Food is amazing, owners are incredibly kind. Can’t wait to go back”

“We had the best experience at this family owned restaurant. They are so welcoming and acommodating. We had the spinach & feta burek with homemade yogurt but will be back to try more flavors. Such wonderful people, definitely stop if you’re in the area.”
