Verzênay Chicago — one of Lincoln Park's strongest bakery spots. You're eating the real thing here. The staff makes it feel personal. Cynthia M: "The croissant was flaky and buttery, and the chicken sausage was loaded with flavor"

“Verzênay Chicago, founded and led by Chef and owner Arshiya Farheen, is a truly interesting and inviting high tea meeting place brings that French pastry expertise to every detail of the menu”
I live a couple of miles away, and I made my way here bc of the good Google rating. I wasn't impressed at all.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. I’ve never felt this frustrated before.

Verzênay Chicago, founded and led by Chef and owner Arshiya Farheen, is a truly interesting and inviting high tea meeting place brings that French pastry expertise to every detail of the menu. One of the most delightful touches here is the personal care the host puts into preparing teas and coffee for guests. The sandwiches and sweets pair nicely with the handcrafted beverages, making it a pleasant spot for both casual meetups and more relaxed business conversations. Overall, the atmosphere and offerings make it a very good place to hold a meeting or simply enjoy a thoughtful, high-quality high tea experience.

“I went here for a holiday tea service and it was wonderful.”
I went here for a holiday tea service and it was wonderful. The amount of savories vs. sweets had a nice balance and standouts were the cream puffs and chicken slider. We were a large group but service managed to be orderly and fast. The blue tea was also good. Love this place!

“This was my first time here, this is a very cute cafe in my opinion.”
This was my first time here, this is a very cute cafe in my opinion. Its perfect for a ladies day out and a quick lunch. Their staff is amazing, they were so polite, friendly and helpful in nature. Special shout out to Nicole, she went above and beyond to wrap my to go dessert, as I had an hour drive back home in almost 100 degree weather. I also met Arshiya the owner, very down to earth and friendly person, she took the time to stop and talk to me, even though she was on her way out. I loved everything I tried here. If you're looking for authentic, European style croissants, that taste just like the kind you may have tried on your travels, I highly recommend you try it here. I really miss the ones I tried in Zurich and the croissants here were nearly identical to the ones from Zurich. We tried the chicken salad on a croissant and egg &cheese on a croissant, both were fresh and tasty. Their desserts are to die for, do not miss out, I tried the Royale, Paris brest and the mango cheesecake and all three were amazing. For drinks, I got the Parisian rain and it was very good. I recommend it if you like iced tea with a creamy taste. The only con I have are the hours, I live almost an hour away and would love it if there were evening hours too so I could come after work on a day with my friends 🧡

“We had a lovely experience at Verzenay Chicago.”
We had a lovely experience at Verzenay Chicago. We tried the Strawberry Ricotta Cake, the Chocolate Lovers Cake, and a Cappuccino—and everything was excellent. The desserts were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Strawberry Ricotta Cake was light and perfectly balanced, while the Chocolate Lovers Cake was rich and indulgent. The cappuccino was smooth and complemented the sweets nicely. Overall, we were very satisfied and will definitely come back!

“The savory breakfast croissant is to die for!”
The savory breakfast croissant is to die for!! Everything we have had here is always top notch. As a local, this is my favorite French bakery in chicago. They even have real flowers on the tables which was such a nice touch. Also, try the Rugelach! A delicious Jewish pastry, incredibly well balanced.

“Love the pastries and coffee here.”
Love the pastries and coffee here. I had the beautiful pistacho escargot with the sweet glaze on top which was just so beautifully thin and perfectly sweet. I also had the turkey baguette which was simple but so satisfying. I was so awed with the pastries that I took a milk loaf home and cannot stop thinking about this place since. I cannot wait to go back. The main drawback was the amount of seating available. Additionally, the atmosphere was a little more work from home so it did feel a little stiff in there but I would definitely go back.

“Possibly the best avocado toast I've ever ever had.”
Possibly the best avocado toast I've ever ever had. Home baked sourdough, radishes, and avo (I also added egg)...chef's kiss! The pastries looked so fresh and delicious! I was told they're baked every morning. The chicken sausage and turkey were halal! What a gem of a place. Definitely recommend.

“The baguette here is truly exceptional—crusty on the outside, airy on the inside, and full of flavor.”
The baguette here is truly exceptional—crusty on the outside, airy on the inside, and full of flavor. We were also thrilled to find rugelach (a Jewish-Polish pastry), which had our whole family raving. The only downside was the customer service, which felt a bit curt and could definitely be more welcoming. Still, the quality of the baked goods makes this place worth a visit

“You must try passion fruit ricotta cake.”
You must try passion fruit ricotta cake! The flavor was so balanced with adequate amount of sweetness and sour fruit. Strawberry cake was also good. Very fresh. I can’t say enough how good their pastries are. Their breads were also impressive. And they offer a very affordable and reasonable for their products.
