Bourgeois Pig Cafe — neighborhood bakery in Lincoln Park. The atmosphere is half the draw here. Expect something different from the standard lineup. Moises Treviño Garcia: "The first bite was a revelation"

“It arrived stacked between two thick slices of house-made multigrain bread, its golden crust speckled with seeds, offering the perfect balance of softness and structure”
We ordered sandwiches and panini’s. It said oven roasted turkey. It was actually rubbery lunch meat.
I don't recommend this cafe, because the cashier had an attitude when I ordered a drink.
This place knows they have thieves and yet they don’t have security cameras on 2nd floor??

“It’s cozy with fireplace, old photos, and books.”
It’s cozy with fireplace, old photos, and books. I enjoy sitting on the first floor tables and vibes where I would have a good panini and Julius Meinl coffee. Staffs are super friendly and love what they do. They be able to make an off menu for “old man and the sea” with panini. It’s fresh and perfect. 🥰

“There’s something magical about stepping into Bourgeois Pig Cafe—like stumbling into an old...”
There’s something magical about stepping into Bourgeois Pig Cafe—like stumbling into an old storybook where every corner is filled with charm and history. Tucked away in what was once a Lincoln Park apartment, this café has transformed into a cozy, vintage hideaway with warm lighting, mismatched furniture, and the kind of character that makes you want to settle in with a good book and stay for hours. It was packed when I arrived, buzzing with conversations and the comforting hum of an espresso machine, yet somehow it still felt intimate, like a well-kept secret. I ordered The Old Man & The Sea, and let me tell you, this was no ordinary tuna sandwich. It arrived stacked between two thick slices of house-made multigrain bread, its golden crust speckled with seeds, offering the perfect balance of softness and structure. The first bite was a revelation, the World Famous Tuna Dill Salad was creamy yet airy, with fresh dill adding a bright, herbaceous lift. The celery brought a subtle crunch, while a whisper of red onion gave just enough sharpness to keep things interesting. The ripe tomato slices added a juicy sweetness, and the crisp romaine lettuce gave a refreshing contrast, preventing the sandwich from feeling too heavy. But the real standout? That multigrain bread. Slightly nutty, with a gentle chew and a toasted edge that gave just the right amount of resistance, it elevated the sandwich from simple to spectacular. Every ingredient worked in harmony, making each bite more satisfying than the last. Bourgeois Pig Cafe isn’t just a place to grab a bite, it’s a place to experience food in a way that feels nostalgic and comforting, yet refined. I already know I’ll be coming back, not just for the food, but for that feeling of finding something special, hidden in plain sight.

“Every time I come here, it feels like traveling back in time.”
Every time I come here, it feels like traveling back in time. Looking at the books on the shelves, I can’t help but wonder who might have read them back in the day. The ambiance is incredible—so unique and original. The coffee is delicious, and the Italian panini might just be my favorite. Also, the blueberry muffin is absolutely perfect for me!

Super cozy coffee shop in a house. Plenty of books, cozy corners, and plenty of tables and seating. The coffee was strong, so come prepared to get work down.

“A truly inspiring place, beyond their delicious food.”
A truly inspiring place, beyond their delicious food. If you enjoy laptop cafe remote work, this place will take your experience to another level. PROS: great food, delicious sandwiches and beverages. Staff is very professional and welcoming. Unique indoor vintage atmosphere and gorgeous/quiet garden seating available. CONS: It's hard to think of anything really. Parking is a bit complicated, which enhances the quietness and relaxing atmosphere.

8 years in Chicago and this is still one of my all-time favorites. Such a Lincoln Park gem. The sandwiches are amazing and I love the ambiance. It feels like an old French library. It really is the best and the I Am The Cheese sandwich changed my life!!!!

“BEST PLACE ON EARTH ALERT 🌎 Goodness it’s good to be back here.”
BEST PLACE ON EARTH ALERT 🌎 Goodness it’s good to be back here. I spent my early college days at this eclectic old ruin. This place sparks a fire in me. Creatively, emotionally, physically, so and so forth. Ancient books line the walls. Paintings of what I could only believe to be great men. It’s more than coffee here; It’s more than yummy sandies; it’s spirit. Not many places have that anymore. It’s all been torn down and turned into developments (like the children’s hospital rubbled across the street from this cafe). If you’re reading this and thinking that you might go, do it. It’s totally worth it. Keep it alive. Just make sure to skidandle when I’m in town so I can have it to myself again😉. thanks. BYE ✌️

“I always am looking for a good place to read and this cafe/bar felt like a home away from home.”
I always am looking for a good place to read and this cafe/bar felt like a home away from home. Bustling and vibrant with cozy nooks and reading corners, I found myself forgetting I was in America all together. I recommend for a journaling afternoon, meeting old friends, or needing to escape from modern coffee shop. And they have gluten free bread for all their sandwiches on the menu!

“A very nice place for getting work done and some lunch— if there is seating.”
A very nice place for getting work done and some lunch— if there is seating. I feel like there’s never any spots available. Turns into a speak easy at night. Wait time took a long time but girl taking orders extremely friendly and personable on 11/3/23 and makes a hell of a difference.

“Great place for coffee and sandwiches.”
Great place for coffee and sandwiches. Nice outdoor seating area, unique Great Gatsby type of vibe inside. Large menu of sandwiches and panini. The panini were very good, not cheap, but they were big, so the price is fair. The cappuccino I had was really good, but I wish there were mugs for dine-in guests. Paper cups don't do justice to the lavish 1920s decor. I really enjoyed my visit here and will definitely come back on my next trip to Chicago!
