A lovely dinner for the final night of Restaurant Week 2024 at Waterview. The food, service, and atmosphere were very nice. There are wonderful views of the Chicago River and its bridges and a very open seating area are nice touches to the atmosphere. Staff provided excellent service when coupled with an excellent restaurant week menu made for a great evening.

I visited Water View Restaurant in Chicago for dinner, and while the view is absolutely amazing and definitely the highlight of the experience, the food and service were disappointing. Unfortunately, our waitress was not very polite, which set a negative tone early on. We ordered chicken wings, a cocktail, a margarita pizza, and a steak large plate. The margarita pizza was extremely underwhelming, honestly worse than a frozen grocery-store pizza. It didn’t even have basil, which is kind of the bare minimum for a margarita pizza. The steak was cold and completely tasteless, lacking seasoning or flavor. The chicken wings were crunchy, but the chicken itself tasted stale, which was unpleasant. The fries that came with the steak were actually good, probably the best part of the meal. The drink was just okay, nothing special. Overall, this place has huge potential because of the view, but the food quality and service don’t match the setting. I wouldn’t return for the food, though the scenery might appeal to someone just looking for a nice backdrop.

The food was 'airport:' edible at very best and it was equally ridiculously expensive The service was arguably existent, as in it did exist. There were employees in uniform but few doing anything at all, and not once did anyone ask how my overpriced and underwhelming meal was. After 10 minutes of waiting, I finally asked a bar assistant if I could pay my check. Nothing redeeming about this spot - I sincerely regret not walking to just about anywhere else to eat.

The actual breakfast food was good, and the view of the river was great. The procedure, however (all standing in line to order in one small cafe area), and the value for the money was poor. I was one adult traveling with two kids. I paid extra for the breakfast to be included. The voucher was good for two adult breakfasts and two kids meals. I had to negotiate for an extra small cup of coffee, even though I’d only gotten one of the adult breakfasts.
