“Honey Butter Fried Chicken sits in a cozy little spot in Avondale, and the name pretty much tells you exactly what you're walking into, antibiotic-free, high-quality fried chicken served in a handful of creative ways with a focus on real, thoughtful ingredients rather than just a quick fast-food fix. The space is small and warm, with a casual counter-service setup that makes it easy to grab a quick lunch or settle in for a slower dinner. We got the classic fried chicken plate, a few pieces served with honey butter on the side, and the chicken itself was juicy with a crackly, well-seasoned crust that held up even after sitting for a few minutes while we got settled. The standout though was the fried chicken nachos, a mound of tortilla chips loaded with chunks of that same fried chicken, melty pimento cheese, candied jalapenos, lime crema, and a corn pico de gallo on top, the kind of dish that sounds like a lot and somehow balances out perfectly. We also tried the biscuits, soft and a little sweet, a great vehicle for soaking up extra honey butter. A side of coleslaw rounded things out, light and tangy, cutting through all that richness from the chicken. Service was friendly and the staff clearly cared about getting the order right, checking in to make sure everything came out the way we wanted. It's a small, neighborhood kind of place, not flashy, but the quality of the chicken speaks for itself the moment you take the first bite.”

“Crispy, buttery and sweet. Honey butter fried chicken always has a good crisp and I added nachos to my last order and it was good too. They use pimento cheese so expect an untraditional flavor but I knew this in advance. It’s still really good once you know what the flavor profile will be like.”

“Got the Buffalo Chicken Pimento Mac & Cheese which was really good. Also the atmosphere is really nice and lovely. And the service was great 👍👍👍”

“Great fried chicken! Juicy and flavorful. Thigh was boneless. Reasonable prices (higher than fast food). Fantastic service.”

“Finally came to check this place out and I’m a new fan!!! The chicken is flavorful and juicy!!! The cornbread that comes with it and their honey butter were very tasty. I also got the fried chicken Cesar wrap and probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Parking is super easy, love the music, and the staff was great!”

“Amazing honey butter chicken! Such a cool spot! The cornbread is def a highlight, and the staff was really friendly (Serena) and welcoming :) Heard a lot of hype about this place, and it is legit! Mashed potato’s are first class, Mac and cheese is sweet and spicy- first class! Def will come back next trip to the City!”

“I haven't lived in Chicago for a few years now and I still dream about this delicious chicken... This was my go to order when I wanted something delicious and casual. I am happy to see that it is still thriving! I look forward to trying any and all new menu items when I return.”

“One of the best local spots in the city. All the food is incredible.”

“Had the 2 piece meal with Mac and cheese. The chicken was quite good, though more chewy than I prefer, and the Mac and cheese was good with little bread crumb situations mixed in. Service and vibe was super friendly and chill.”

“Overall it was good. Chicken was flavorful with a crunch, Mac and cheese was a nice twang, and the biscuit was a cute addition. Only thing missing was a spicy dipping sauce but that's just me. Spent just over $20 and wouldn't mind doing it again”

“I was craving some chicken so we came here. The place was packed and loud but in a good way, everyone seemed happy to be there. The smell of fried chicken hit right when we walked in. The guy at the counter was super helpful, got our order quickly. I got the 2-piece chicken with honey butter, two corn muffins and a side of mashed potatoes, one drumstick and boneless breast. Honestly, great choice. The chicken came out hot, crispy, and golden. First bite... wow. Super juicy, tender all the way through, not dry at all. You could taste and feel that fresh-fried flavor. The honey butter melted over the muffin, I didn’t expect to love that combo so much, but it just worked. The mashed potatoes on the side tied everything together, creamy and smooth. Everything on the plate was just pure comfort food done right. No fancy tricks, just really good chicken. Totally hit the spot.”
