“What took us so long to find this delightful restaurant.”
What took us so long to find this delightful restaurant! Well l'm just glad that we did. The menu is chock full of delights, so it was a bit hard to decide which delight we would choose for our first time here. We selected fried calamari appetizer, chicken pot pie, and pork tenderloin. All of the dishes were wonderful and not like they fell off the Cisco truck. They tasted homemade. The wait staff were so nice. And the place is clean, nicely decorated with an absolutely stunning back bar in the bar area, and a cozy feeling to the dining area.

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Great Escape isn’t that bad.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Great Escape isn’t that bad! The decor is a little dated, but overall it’s nice. Management and staff all act like a family and help each other out, which is really cool. The food is actually really good as well, and overall this is a place I would stop at again. Highly recommended!

I had the pleasure of dining here for lunch and everybody was such great people and the food. OMG it was super delicious! The lobster bisque is magical and the most delicious lobster bisque I've ever had in my life! And the little sliders and ribs were delicious! I will definitely be back! I had to edit my review to let you know about the chicken pot pie! I've never actually had a chicken pot pie until today and this thing is fantastic and so many big chunks of chicken!

“I wanted to treat my parents for their birthdays.”
I wanted to treat my parents for their birthdays. A resident in my building treated me to dinner here many months ago. And thought this place would be nice for their dinners. Not disappointed, great setting and service. They both ordered fried chicken and the piece were large and crispy. I ordered the London broil.

Locals had recommended this restaurant and I was not disappointed. Service was great, and timely. Food was great tasting - tried cauliflower bites, mushroom caps, and eggplant casserole. Would definitely revisit.

The chicken pot pie was amazingly delicious, the pork sandwich was incredible, full slab of baby back ribs were extraordinary, the taste was superb. Had a cup of French Onion soup, delicious as was the lentil soup. Next time I’m in the Chicago area will definitely visit again. The antique bar where Al Capone had drinks was a sight to see. Kristen (I believe i got her name right ) was awesome and got it all right. The hostess (I didn’t get her name) was very nice and courteous, smiling beautifully. Overall: Fantastic!!

“I picked this place for my birthday lunch.”
I picked this place for my birthday lunch. It has a nice interior and a great atmosphere. The antique bar is beautiful. They spaced the customers with a table in between when possible, that's a nice touch. Our waiter, Jake, was awesome. She had their chicken pot pie. It was like a fresh pot pie in a freshly baked bread bowl and she loved it. I had the Dijon bass and it was excellent despite my initial misgivings. The flavors and textures were perfectly balanced. Their rice is well seasoned and delicious too. Their vegetables were fresh but a bit cold. My French onion soup was rich and tasty with a huge chunk of mozzarella,. Her salted caramel brownie was pretty amazing. I got spumoni mostly for nostalgic reasons and it was really good. Great place with decent prices and wonderful food.

“The restaurant has roots going back to the early 20th century.”
The restaurant has roots going back to the early 20th century. In recent years they are known for "Big Windy" the wind turbine in the rear of their property. The restaurant is almost entirely on green energy. This has been a "go-to" of ours for years; it started as a special occasion restaurant but the prices are reasonable that we work it in a few times a year. Sandwiches and burgers start at $14, entrées at $16. The Mustard Crusted Bass is excellent and a local favorite. My mother in-law prefers the Ribs. They are also known for their Baked French Onion soup with croutons and melted mozzarella, and Lobster Bisque.

“First time and I was impressed with service and atmosphere.”
First time and I was impressed with service and atmosphere. The music was soft and soothing. Bread at beginning of meal was a little tuff and cold. I ordered the prime rib special and it was little salty but overall good spice. My date ordered Chicken and ribs. Portion was good, price right. We both had left overs. Definitely visiting again.
