“It's worth noting that the dishes we ordered were quite spicy and heavily seasoned—which wasn't mentioned on the menu—but they were delicious”

“Exceptional and very creative small plates.”
Exceptional and very creative small plates. Truly the best meal I have had in months. Both the Hamachi poke and Chili-sechuan bast bass were incredible! Outstanding service with quality recommendations. Really good cocktails, as well. My only knock on this place is that it is a bit loud. Highly recommended, overall - don’t miss this place!

“Made reservations to come here for a date night.”
Made reservations to come here for a date night. We were lucky to get a table same day on a Friday. They were still busy during our late seating. It was restaurant week so we actually had a choice of prix fixe menu but decided to order from the main menu instead. For once we didn't have an issue selecting our entrees, we basically knew what we wanted. Or at least thought we did until they brought out the pork shank for the table next to us. Ended up with that instead of the goat, with the flank steak, pita bread plate and green beans. Everything was amazing. The pita bread, and dip had us scraping the bowls. Giant delicious green beans that were still tender. The flank steak was disappointing only in how little you got. I was eating the chimichurri and citrus by itself. The pork shank stole the show from the start. It was everything I wanted it to be. The mustard and pickled slaws paired perfectly with the pork. I was gnawing on the bone like a caveman when we were done. Service was excellent, although I had trouble hearing due to the level of background noise. It didn't hinder my dining experience.

When I found out I was coming to Chicago for the week, the first thing I did was book a reservation for The Girl and the Goat! It did not disappoint! It was probably one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! The restaurant had great atmosphere! The Goat Fashioned was a fantastic drink. I ended up getting four plates, the Chickpea Fritters, Hamachi Poke, Roasted Pig Face, and the Goat Empanadas. They were all amazing and very unique, I would have a hard time picking a favorite. This is a place you must visit if you are in Chicago area, but make sure you make your reservations ahead of time!

We visited Girl & the Goat tonight and initially planned to order the Restaurant Week menu, but it felt a bit undervalued for us, so we decided to go à la carte instead—and we’re glad we did. We ordered the beans, curry pork belly, and chicken skewers. Everything was delicious and full of flavor, and the portions were generous enough to comfortably share between two people. Make sure to get the green beans! The only downside was that our waitress didn’t seem very enthusiastic and appeared a bit annoyed by our questions. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and would definitely return to try more dishes from the menu.

“Dining at Girl & the Goat was an amazing experience for my family on Christmas.”
Dining at Girl & the Goat was an amazing experience for my family on Christmas! The star of the evening was the crispy pork shank, served with a stunning blend of fresh accompaniments. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and wrapped in an irresistibly crunchy layer of toasted shallots and garlic crumbs, offering deep umami flavor with every bite. The house-made sauces — one creamy, likely tahini-based, and the other tangy and nutty — added balance and sophistication. Alongside, a medley of pickled vegetables, shredded carrots, and herb garnishes provided brightness and crunch, refreshing the palate beautifully. Every component felt fresh and high-quality, showcasing thoughtful layering of taste and presentation. Every dishes reflected inventive cooking and exceptional ingredient quality. Each bite felt like a refined yet approachable culinary experience — unmistakably crafted with passion and precision.

We stopped in while we were in town before a basketball game and Wow!! We were able to sit at the bar after a minimal wait. The bartender did an amazing job describing the food and he gave us great recommendations. The goat liver, phenomenal!! The perogies, to die for!! The sea bass just melted! Then there is the pig face….The perfect mix of textures make this dish one of the best dishes I ever had!! Such a wonderful experience!!

Flavor, check! Attentive service, check! Sammy was great! Warm and soothing atmosphere, check! Not too loud, easy to have a conversation. Next trip, we'll be back! Goat empañadas, butternut pierogi, Szechuan bass, and skirt steak with pear were all extremely well balanced, seasoned perfectly, as well as providing some unique and surprising flavor combinations. Hubby even said his favorite was the pierogi and he's always said he hates it. ;) Be sure to have the Green beans with cashews as they've been on the menu from the beginning. LOVE this place!!

“We had an amazing experience at Girl & The Goat from start to finish.”
We had an amazing experience at Girl & The Goat from start to finish. Our server Jake truly made the night — attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. He guided us through the menu perfectly and made the whole experience feel effortless and fun. Every dish we ordered was outstanding. The goat empanadas were flavorful and perfectly balanced, the chickpeas were packed with texture and spice, and the green beans were simple but absolutely addictive. The pork shank was tender, rich, and ideal for sharing, while the goat belly completely blew us away — incredibly cooked and full of bold flavor. And dessert… wow. The chocolate pistachio cheesecake was hands down one of the best desserts we’ve ever had — rich, creamy, not overly sweet, and the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. Exceptional food, outstanding service, and a memorable dining experience. We can’t wait to come back — and hope to have Jake as our server again! ✨🍽️

“This is a special place.”
This is a special place. The food and the service were both terrific. It was also great having the cozy couch seating in the corner. I would not order the pig face again, but the bass was incredible.

“I wasn't sure if the restaurant was actually good or just internet hype, but I was pleasantly surprised.”
I wasn't sure if the restaurant was actually good or just internet hype, but I was pleasantly surprised! The menu has just a few sharing plates, but they are extremely well-crafted with incredible flavors. It’s a total flavor explosion! It's worth noting that the dishes we ordered were quite spicy and heavily seasoned—which wasn't mentioned on the menu—but they were delicious! The pistachio and chocolate dessert was absolutely perfect. Getting a reservation is a struggle, but it's totally worth it lol.The waiter was super efficient but a man of few words, which was totally fine.

“Really delicious meal in a warm ambience.”
Really delicious meal in a warm ambience. As a solo diner, I appreciated that they were able to offer a selection of dishes as half portions so that I could try more things. I was also seated almost immediately as I'd made a reservation. I ordered the stout bread, green beans (1/2 portion), chickpea fritters (1/2 portion) and pumpkin spice cake. Everything was excellent. The stout bread was fluffy, vaguely sweet, and paired beautifully with the pimento cheese. The green beans were perfectly cooked and umami. The chickpea fritters were my favorite dish, unique and just fantastic. My waiter recommended the pumpkin spice cake for dessert, and while I felt extremely basic for ordering it, the cake was sensational. Relating this dish to anything starbucks produces would be an insult. Overall I found my meal here worth the splurge.

Girl and the Goat is perfect for a special date night. I went for my birthday, and the team made me feel truly celebrated with their warm, attentive service. The ambiance is lively yet cozy—ideal for a memorable evening. The menu is small but thoughtfully curated, and every dish we tried was creative and delicious. Standouts included inventive vegetable plates and flavorful meats, all beautifully presented. While there aren’t endless options, each one stands out for its taste and quality. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy delicious food and great vibes on a special occasion
