“What a fun evening out! Great food and service at the Argentinian gem. I had the flap steak, never heard of it but it was delicious and expertly prepared. Nice cocktail list with a focus on tequila inspired beverages. Nice desert selection too! We sat in the far side opposite from the bar, noise level was great for conversation.”

“Folklore is my favorite restaurant in Chicago. The atmosphere is top notch, the service is always friendly, they often have live music that's at the perfect volume and vibe, and, most importantly, their food is amazing! I dine at Folklore every month or so and have ordered many items on their menu. They're all phenomenal. My favorite is their "Milanesa de Pollo a la Napolitana" (breaded chicken topped with ham, marinara, and mozzarella), which I highly recommend, but I'd order any of their meats for a more faithful Argentine feel. I included a picture of their Filet - which is to die for.”

“I’ve seen this restaurant so many times, but was finally able to dine there and it was outstanding! The vibe was perfect for a Saturday evening - love that the lights were dim and each table had candles. There was a good crowd, but it never felt too loud or crowded, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered El Che, which was fantastic. We had the flan for dessert, and I was anticipating having a bite or two but our table of two enjoyed the entire thing. It was delicious! Folklore would make for a great date night or spot to celebrate a birthday, promotion, etc. I can’t wait to visit again”

“the food was delicious, the steaks & the sides were very well cooked & tasty. our waiter jose was very attentive and hospitable. the candle lit atmosphere really added to our night, will definitely come back here again.”

“It just doesn't get better than Folklore when you want the full argentine experience. Lots of delicious appetizers. Love the eggplant "berenjena escabeche" and the provoleta. And of course - the meat. All three of us had the El filet, juicy and cooked to order. The medium was medium and medium rare was medium rare. Seems simple but it's not. Creamiest spinach mashed potatoes on the side. Not to be missed the flan was a stand out. Pur server Jose was a rockstar.”

“★★★★★ – Great Food, Great Atmosphere Fresh bread came out first—simple, hot, and actually good. The chicken appetizer was seasoned right and worked well with the red wine we ordered. Steaks were the highlight—thick cuts, grilled perfectly, juicy inside with a good crust. Everything came out hot and tasted like it was made with care. We sat outside, which had a relaxed, casual vibe—perfect for a low-key night. If you're dressing up or celebrating something like an anniversary, the indoor setup looked more formal and polished. Either way, the place delivers. Service was on point—no delays, no confusion, just efficient and friendly. Wine selection matched the food well. It's definitely a place worth coming back to.”

“Started with a mescal flight that was varied and worth the price. Ordered a corn empanada that came with a delectable chimmichuri top dip into. The shell was super crispy which was the perfect contrast with the cheesey corn filling. Main was their 10 oz filet and spinach mashed potatoes with a red onion and wine sauce. Insanely tender cut of meat. The sauce was flavorful and making a perfect bite with the mash, sauce and a slice of the steak was superb. Great service.”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An unforgettable experience at Folklore! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm, rustic, and inviting—enhanced by the soft glow of candlelight. We ordered the El Che, a grilled flank steak served sizzling hot on a tabletop grill with red chimichurri, and it did not disappoint. The steak was tender, flavorful, and perfectly grilled. The accompanying roasted red peppers, asparagus, and shiitake mushrooms added the perfect earthy balance. Also worth mentioning: the mashed peas were silky and vibrant, and the yuca was tender and well-seasoned. Every dish felt thoughtful and well-executed. To top it off, the cocktail (with a crisp apple garnish!) was both refreshing and artfully crafted—clearly made with pride. If you're looking for an authentic Argentinian experience in Chicago with bold flavors and a cozy, romantic vibe, Folklore is a must. “We came here on a day where a festival was happening on the street, luckily we had reservations. The music Nextdoor (maybe their bar) was very loud. We were seated quickly and served pretty quickly as well. The restaurant itself is very cute and spacious. They were out of certain drinks/menu items because of the festival issue. However, it wasn’t a huge issue for us. We tried to many different items - since it was our first time here. We had the spinach empanada- I chose this because it was vegetarian but I wasn’t a fan. My partner did like it (I am usually very picky). We also picked the provoleta and this was delicious, almost like eating this in Argentina. Very good, this was my favorite item. My partner had the chorizo trio and he said it was good, but nothing too superb. For entrees we had the ravioli with both sauces red and white and it was yummy, but again just too much food so I only had a few bites. It’s been a few weeks and I cannot remember what my partner had (the steak) also said he enjoyed it, but not sure he was blown away. I will say that we had the flan as desserts and it was DELICIOUS. Perhaps the best I’ve ever had I do recommend this spot, especially if you are in the mood for it. It was a good experience.”

“Folklore served up some of the best steak we’ve had in Chicago. And we’ve been to many of the best steakhouses in the city. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. We were legit surprised because this place has good reviews but is never talked about or considered a top steak spot in the city. The “El Che” was the star and came out sizzling on a personal grill. Portion was enormous. Could be split by two people. Empanadas are pretty good too. Wine was fine. The only issue was the bar side of the place was banging music. Super aggressively. And the restaurant side gives off a romantic candle lit vibe. Had to scream to have a conversation. Fwiw - we went during Do Division Fest so that could have impacted the music and craziness of the bar side. Either way will be back. Steak was super good!”
