“We really enjoyed our experience from start to finish.”
We really enjoyed our experience from start to finish. It is the little things that make all the difference. The service and team were all knowledgeable and welcoming. Specifics aspects of service that we enjoyed were the clean plates between each course. All the food was delicious. Thoughtful, well-balanced dishes marked our experience. The woman who ran a number of dishes and took the time to describe each dish was particularly genuine and we appreciated her attention to detail. Our server was fine and was indeed attentive. The blue-prawn dumplings were particularly delicious. I also greatly enjoyed the pasilla noodle. The environment was very warm and welcoming and there was a buzz of life and excitement in the facility. All the dishes, in addition to being delicious, wete beautifully presented. Cocktails were also presented nicely and perfectly balanced with some inventive combinations. The mezcal cocktails were very enjoyable. All told, it was awesome and we will certainly be back. Our only complaint, and I would really characterize it as more of an opportunity to improve or a less successful culinary experiment, was the pandan creme brûlée. I love creme brûlée, and when I see one on a menu, I order it, no exceptions. This version was overpowered by the pandan flavor and the custard hadn't set as much as I would have liked. Perhaps a bit less pandan would have worked better. All told with the blackberry and thai basil it was a unique and enjoyable bite, but I probably would not order this dish again... We will be back for certain. A jem of Portage Park to be sure.

“This is one of our favorite spots.”
This is one of our favorite spots! The staff is warm, knowledgeable, and attentive-and a special shout-out to the GM Karen who always greets us so warmly. The food is consistent, creative, delicious and beautifully presented. They even surprised us with a couple of complimentary dishes today, which really made our night and gave a chance to try dishes we normally wouldn’t. Highly recommend for a date night out or to celebrate an intimate occasion.

“This is a hidden gem in Chicago.”
This is a hidden gem in Chicago! WOW! The service was spot on & we had a large party. All food was delivered together and everyone received the correct plate with no direction. The food was in another league. We were there for Mother’s Day brunch & everything was on point. We will definitely make this a regular spot & we are excited to come back for dinner.

I’ve lived in the city my entire life but moved to Avondale a year ago and have been making the rounds at the local restaurants. We finally made it here and wow! This place reminds me of a Korean version of Chef Special. Everything about our meal was incredible. Service, the food, the drinks, all of it. One of the better meals we’ve had in the city. If your near by it’s a must go and if your farther out it’s worth the journey. The carrots and short rib dumplings were standouts. Short rib dumpling might be one of the best bites of food I’ve ever had.

“I have finally made it to this neighborhood dining spot near 6 Corners thats been recommended to me...”
I have finally made it to this neighborhood dining spot near 6 Corners thats been recommended to me by many friends / colleagues. This place was packed on a Saturday night and is well regarded by area patrons. I went here to try their double cheese burger with skinny fries. This burger is up there with Little Bad Wolf and Gretel. The meat to bun ratio is satisfying with a super flavorful and unctuous meat patties. The string fries paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also ordered an opener of kimchi fries. The fries, smothered in Merkts cheddar, was crispy and cheesy. The kimchi was a good contrast with its acidity and tartness from the fermented cabbage. However, I am not a fan of carrots and found it a bit strange to have it added to the kimchi. Every place Ive ever had fresh kimchi at traditional Korean diners, never has carrots been added to their kimchi. Nonetheless, still enjoyable. Lastly, skip the oysters. It was tasty but extrememly small!!! Barely tasted the meat itself, very disappointing. The oyster meat should be no smaller than a Kennedy dollar coin, this was smaller than a size of a penny. Regardless, will definitely need to come back and try their noodles.

“Loved the experience of this Asian fusion place.”
Loved the experience of this Asian fusion place! The decor is unique w 1920s style furniture and lighting (just my take on it… I’m not a historian). Food is really flavorful. Zach was our server and so helpful and nice and humble. All staff were welcoming and friendly and supportive. The mushroom butter dumplings $11 were good ….juicy and tasty and bursting w flavor. I liked the basil and the sautéed greens added more flavor. The kim cheese fries $12 was such a great deal bc it could make 4 hungry people quell their hunger before the meals. I loved the crispy thin fries and cheese sauce and kimchi bc I usually eat kimchi with anything. The bibimbop $16 was salty and too flavorful for me with a lot of gochujang… (Korean red pepper paste). I would have liked more rice and veges in there to offset the strong flavors. The crispy noodles $16 were good and unique where the noodles curled over and were fried well and lots of fried garlic. Tasty but a bit too much flavor for me and a bit salty also. I wish there were more veggies in there. The Warhol drink $16 had pineapple rum, pistachio lemon foam, and some other ingredients I don’t know, but it was very tasty and sweet. They have a party room for a capacity of 16 people max. It’s very nice and elegant. Indoor and outdoor seating. 2 All gender bathrooms. The 2nd bathroom at the end also has a urinal as well as a toilet. Parking on the street and it’s $2.50 per hour from 8 AM until 10 PM.

“Came here twice for their burgers, very fancy and elegant when you walk in.”
Came here twice for their burgers, very fancy and elegant when you walk in. Their cheeseburgers are to die for. The cheese melts perfectly in your mouth along with their special sauce in the burger. The kimchi cheese fries were original and outside of the box. Not a fan of the kimchi on the fries, but I did appreciate the experience of having them. The fries were fresh and tasty with the merkt’s cheddar sauce. I’d come here again.

I have been living in area my whole and never realized I pass by here almost every day driving. This place is extremely cozy and very nice inside. The mushroom dumpling was so delicious I ordered another one for myself. The Double Cheeseburger is really good and my wife had the Fluke. Super delicious overall. The waiter we had was super nice and walked us through the menu. Loved his sense of humor. Will definitely be back!

“My new favorite local bar.”
My new favorite local bar. Unassuming bar with great atmosphere that packs a punch of flavor in every dish. I was literally wowed by the flavors of their Asian fusion dishes. Not to mention an amazing happy hour every day of the week.

“Talk about a hidden gem.”
Talk about a hidden gem! @communitytavern is an amazing restaurant owned and run by husband & wife, Joey & Brenna Beato. It’s an American restaurant with a Pan-Asian influence and the flavors are WOW! The crispy rice noodles were fantastic! The noodles were fried PERFECTLY for that balance of soft mixed with the crunch. It’s tossed in a lemongrass ragu with chicken and fried garlic. ❤️ It was full of so much flavor! The Korean potato pancake is a great appetizer that has just enough heat to get your tastebuds warmed up. EVERYTHING tastes so FRESH here and I LOVE the actual “community” feeling you get as soon as you walk in; lots of smiles and families here! The drinks are very well crafted, too! AND, kids EAT FREE Tuesday - Thursday and Sunday, for each adult meal purchase of $16 or more. 👏🏽🙌🏽 Stop by for a delicious meal and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you!
