“Fun, surprising and delicious dishes. Excellent service, very friendly staff. No way to choose your favorite course, they are all amazing. Additionally, the non alcoholic pairing is fresh and perfectly compliments the food. Highly recommend.”

“Fantastic experience with absolutely amazing food! How this place doesn’t have a Michelin star or two is mind blowing!”

“WOW. I’m not sure if I can capture how good this place is with words. Or pictures. Start to finish, one of the best meals I have had. Each dish was unique and well thought out. I found myself curious about each ingredient and taking my time, savoring each bite.”

“Wonderful experience. Every dish was perfectly timed and delicious. The service was excellent, quiet, and seamless; all the staff were prepared for everything and meticulous in ensuring my experience was great. The dishes were all fantastic and well portioned to the number of courses. I would absolutely return.”

“My wife and I have been two times now, the second time was arguably better than the first. The food, cocktails, and experience were awesome both times with more than enough variation between our visits. The team was so kind too. They do some cool things here that I haven’t seen with other tasting menus; for one of the courses you get to pick your own soup cup and another you get to pick your own vintage spoon. One of the best restaurants in Chicago. You have to go.”

“Perfect fine dining for my Asian stomach:p also it’s so many courses my friend and I couldn’t finish!”

“Behind the nondescript storefront on Division Street in Wicker Park, a team is working tirelessly to deliver Chef Stephen's finest dining experience, curated by the 925 Hospitality Group. If you've been to Apolonia, the interior design will look strikingly similar, with simple Scandinavian millwork underscoring the intimate, classy atmosphere. We were impressed with their craft, presentation, service, and flavor profile. From the January 2026 tasting menu, my favorites were the Arroz Caldo, Wild Hokkaido Scallop, and Slowly Cooked Beef Breast. I could eat five orders of the Arroz Caldo if I could. It was served in a crab shell with fresh queen crab meat atop a delicate, savory, and citrus-forward broth. The culinary team should definitely keep that dish on the menu. With careful placement of utensils, chefs explaining the significance and meticulous preparation behind each dish, and refined yet bold seasoning, Valhalla is an exceptional dining option for those seeking a peaceful evening with one of Chicago's finest hospitality groups.”

“The service was phenomenal, and the food was incredible. I asked for smaller portions for the tasting, as always, since I can’t eat much in one sitting.”

“Valhalla was such an excellent dining experience. There was not a single bite that didn't surprise and delight me and my parents. Each dish that was served seemed to beat out the prior as the group's favorite. The service was a little slow at the beginning, with the first drinks and bites coming about 25 minutes after we arrived, but if you don't arrive ravenous like we did, perhaps you won't notice. I highly recommend getting the Valhalla beverage pairing. Each beverage poured was an interesting selection and all tasted lovely.”

“We went for a celebration and we felt like VIPs from the moment we stepped in. The food was flavourful and surprising. Every bite and sip were thoughtful and beautifully presented. Don't let the portion size fool you, we finished dinner very full and very happy! Pro tip: we reserved the first sitting of the evening at 4pm and we were alone in the restaurant! -0.25 stars (keeping my review at 5 total) for the pistachio Madeline and pistachio layer in the special occasion cake (extra, need to reserve in advance) because it tasted like almonds, not pistachios.”
