“Wonderful experience. I had the filet Oscar. Perfectly cooked. Sides were great. Service was so good! Highly recommend”

“Took my friend here from out of town and was an amazing decision. Both food and service were incredible. Our server Jorge was incredibly kind and personable. Both he and the kitchen did a wonderful job and I can't wait to return.”

“My Chilean sea bass was awesome!! The table bread with cheese and butter divine. The dirty martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives were very tasty. My friends steak unfortunately underwhelming full of fat.”

“So so soooo wonderful! The entire staff made us feel welcome from the moment we entered the restaurant. Great food, great music, great vibes!”

“Came here last year for Derrick Rose flower give away pop up event and meet & greet. Definitely a super solid location, man we had the line all backed down kinzie & around the corner. There was thousands and thousands of people stood in line, I was out here at 6am still had to wait for hours before I got in. It was a great time for the city showing up And showing the support for a local legend! Hope to see another event similar to this one, I thought the location was dope & it’s in a perfect spot to get people in & out while still having capacity to hold a crowd. Thanks Again Derrick! You know the city got your back 💯”

“Everything was really fun. I really enjoyed it. The food was great. They did not have Jazz going on the night we were there but I bet that really escalates the atmosphere. I would definitely suggest this place to other people.”

“Tortoise Supper Club offers a classy, upscale dining experience and bolsters the supper club atmosphere with live jazz on Fridays and Saturdays. The food was on par with what I would expect from this type of restaurant (although there was a longer wait in between our starters and mains that became noticeable) and the service was good. With the plethora of steakhouses in Chicago it might be a while before I’m back but I would definitely visit again.”

“What an amazing gem in Chicago! Best customer service, quaint ambiance and great drinks! Favorite dish on the menu is the Wellington salmon with spinach! A huge must try !!! Will certainly be back.”

“The Tortoise Club was a lovely venue for our clients wedding back in September! As a Wedding Planner I definitely recommend them. Photos by Riley Trott”

“Went here for my birthday, food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Our server Linda was so kind and helpful, and she serenaded us for my birthday! We’ve already planned to come back over the holidays. Also make sure to get the mashed potatoes I have not stopped talking about them since.”

“Tortoise Club is my favorite restaurant in Chicago. I come here every time I visit. Everything is always amazing, but I especially recommend the Beef Wellington. Very few restaurants offer Beef Wellington nowadays, so it is always a treat to see. Tortoise Club makes one of the best I've had! I also recommend visiting in October to try the succulent Pheasant Pie. If Fall was served on a plate, this would be it! For dessert, the items are again all amazing, but the cherry pie definitely takes the cake. For some reason, it is extremely hard to find a good rendition of cherry pie. Usually, the filling is overly sweet, or there are barely any cherries (rather a ton of syrup). Worse yet, sometimes restaurants put too much corn starch into the filling turning it into a congealed mess. The Tortoise Club, however, makes the PERFECT cherry pie. The cherries are bright and tart, the filling is mostly all cherries (very little syrup), yet the filling is still soft rather than congealed. Simply the best piece of pie I've had in recent memory. Moving on to the bar... They do not get cheap on the liquor in their house cocktails. They use top shelf liquors. The South Side cocktail had zero 'piney' taste from the gin. It was clearly a really high quality gin. The presentation was incredible, too. The bartenders also went out of their way to make a Chicago Fizz for me. Which is one of the drinks made famous in Chicago during the Prohibition era. It was not on the menu, but they made me an absolutely wonderful one. If you're lucky enough to dine here when they have live music, spend 30min at the bar before your reservation and savor the live jazz. Finally, the atmosphere of the Tortoise Club, combined with the unique and wonderful food, is what sets it apart from other Chicago establishments. It feels glamorous, yet approachable at the same time. Which is also reflected in the prices. It's not cheap by any means, but for the money, and considering the portions and experience, it is a much better value than many others in Chicago. Give it a try! Now, I need to figure out when my next trip to Chicago will be someone I can come back!”
