“This place has almost become the go-to spot for my BF and me. Many Taiwanese snacks and dishes to try. The popcorn chicken is divine. They are perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and not greasy at all. The fried basil is cooked well and enhanced the flavor. The braised beef noodle soup was also excellent. The beef and tendon were incredibly tender, the noodles had a great chewy texture, and they were very generous with the amount of meat. The broth was a little sweeter than I expected, but it was still delicious. My personal favorite was the oyster and pork intestine mianxian (Taiwanese vermicelli soup). As someone who loves soup, this was exactly what I was looking for. The broth was rich and comforting, and the pork intestines were fresh, tender, and completely free of any unpleasant odor.”

“鹽酥雞必買 牛肉麵有點辣但好吃 黑白切醬很棒 蚵仔煎 醬好吃 蜜糖吐司很大份 需要4-5人分享,內裡室軟的 奶茶三兄弟 無糖去冰 仙草鮮奶凍 微糖去冰 臭臭鍋 料很多 吃起來就是火鍋感 沙茶牛肉炒飯 外帶 還行 炒米粉 肉燥味淡 鹹味夠”

“Super good food. Would go here often if I lived in town for sure. A tiny bit off the beaten path but pretty easy to get to with transit. Honestly, kind of silly, but the pickled cucumbers were my favorite part. So simple but so refreshing.”

“Awesome and authentic Taiwanese food! I’ve been taken here many times by my colleague from Taiwan and he orders all the dishes! I never know what has been ordered, but I do know everything has been unbelievably delicious. I gave the atmosphere 3 stars, not for anything bad, it is just a normal, clean café. If you want authentic Taiwanese food, this is the place!”

“The best Taiwanese food in Chicago in my opinion. We’ve heard good reviews about this spot and finally gave it a try and we’re glad we did. The minced pork over rice (卤肉饭)was out of sky delicious, especially with some Taiwanese kimchi to help with the fat. We also got the fried chicken. The hotpot was okay - I think we’re gonna try more cooked dishes next time”

“他的魯肉飯非常好吃,身為台灣人的強烈推薦!它的貢丸湯也不錯,只是價位划不划算就見仁見智了。但是,美中不足的就是,它的停車場太小了!我到時,停車場沒車位,導致我還要繞到旁邊住宅區街啪,走五分鐘到餐館。 Their minced pork rice is excellent. As someone from Taiwan, I highly recommend it. The pork meatball soup is also quite good, although whether it is worth the price is up to you. The only downside is the parking. The lot is very small, and when I arrived there were no spaces available. I had to park on a nearby residential street and walk about five minutes to the restaurant.”

“I love this place. Yummy food, great boba. Sit in palmisano right next door for a great lunch!”

“One of the most generous portions of beef I’ve ever seen in my noodles. The taste on par with my buds, will come back given the chance on my daytrips to Chi.”

“鹹酥雞讓你一秒回台灣! 涼拌豬耳朵蒜味很足,讚👍 You gotta try their crispy Taiwanese popcorn chicken! Big portions and our server was so friendly and helpful. They do not have beer but you can bring your own! (Liquor store is right across the street.)”

“Of course, we had to get the spicy Taiwanese beef noodle soup, which was super good. The beef was pretty tender and not overcooked, which tends to be my biggest qualm with beef noodle soups. We also ordered the fantuan, which had the delightful crunchy you tiao and the savory pork floss. Nice, casual dinner in Chinatown adjacent if you’re looking for the Taiwanese classics done well!”

“Eating at Taipei Cafe genuinely takes me back to Taiwan. The flavors feel authentic and familiar, and you can really tell care is put into the food. The bento boxes are amazing, with generous portions and a great variety, and the price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get.”
