Had a great experience at Shine. The chicken soup was comforting, flavorful, and packed with ingredients. The sangria is definitely a must-order — refreshing and balanced perfectly. The sushi was incredibly fresh and some of the best I’ve had in the city. My chicken dish was loaded with fresh vegetables, which made it feel hearty and well-balanced. Everything tasted fresh, high quality, and made with care. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back. Oh and the staff is super friendly.

High quality sushi, and the best wide rice noodles in brown sauce that I've ever had.

While often known as a Japanese spot, the real gem at Shine lies in its Shanghainese menu. The Drunken Chicken was light and flavorful, and the glazed lotus roots were a standout appetizer - perfectly crunchy, lightly sweet, and filled with glutinous rice. The stir-fried eel & pork belly were fragrant and satisfying, and the scallion oil noodles simple yet comforting. To finish, the sesame ball tangyuan was a lovely dessert - super chewy texture in osmanthus rice wine. The service was warm and attentive, and the space feels modern yet cozy in a charming corner of Lincoln Park. A true hidden gem for authentic Shanghainese cooking!

Refreshed for 2025: Still my go to sushi place. Fresh fish, good flavors. Consistent execution. Red Dragon. Mexican Maki. Crazy Maki.

We were walking in the area and looking for a place to eat a little later in the evening and found Shine Rise. Staff was excellent and very attentive. We were seated by an open door/window that could be closed. Before we even sat down, staff was aware that the temperature was cooling and offered to close it for us. We ordered taro fries, edamame, and Flaming Maki (pictured). Food was delicious! Would definitely return!

Really great food and a very friendly staff. The seared tuna was amazing. Best spring rolls I've had in a long time. We can't wait to go back to Shine!
