House of Hunan Chicago - Lincoln Park
House of Hunan is a beloved Lincoln Park takeout staple, with regulars praising generous portions, speedy pickup, friendly service, and flavorful favorites like Moo Goo Gai Pan, sesame or orange chicken, Mongolian beef, dumplings, and Korean spicy chicken. The homemade mustard is famously intense, and phone orders reportedly come with free egg rolls; however, delivery reviews mention occasional cancellations, small or cold items, and inconsistent experiences.

“Food was ready and hot within 10-12 mins. I Was skeptical because of the mixed reviews, but this place exceeded expectations. The Mongolian beef, beef lo mein, and chicken fried rice were all flavorful with generous portions. Even the egg rolls were surprisingly great. Also, the homemade mustard sauce was absolutely intense — prepare yourself.”

“Absolutely loved this spot. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The menu offers a great variety, and everything we tried was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. What really stood out was how the staff guided us through the options, especially offering spice level choices, which made the experience feel personalized and comfortable. Every dish felt well-balanced and satisfying. If you’re looking for a place with consistently good food and excellent service, this is definitely worth a visit.”

“Server was super attentive and sweet, got the hunan chicken and it was fire, my vegetarian friend got the hunan vegetable dish and that was also yummy.”

“This is quite literally the worst Chinese food in Chicago! The sad thing is I used to order from them years ago and they were actually quite good. The Mongolian chicken was absolutely horrible with no flavor except for the gritty meat. The shrimp chop Suey was disgusting, and the steamed potstickers were literally globs of glutenous dough around lukewarm pork filling. The eggrolls and chicken wings tasted like they were fried in month old rancid cooking oil. I would avoid it all cost! $80 flushed down the toilet.”
“A weekly staple at our house! Super friendly, fast service, great food. Customizable menu items and super helpful on the phone... And when you call in your order you get free egg rolls! It's worth it just to talk to the nice woman answering the phone 😊”
“Order at home, picked up in 10mins! Great, fresh food!!!”
“Great little local gem. Food is good, it’s inexpensive but most importantly great staff. I have 6-7 local restaurants that I consider myself regular at. HoH is one of them.”
“I love ordering from here!!! Dumplings are awesome. Portions are great”
“I order from here a lot and I haven’t been let down yet. The house mustard is incredible, I got punched in the face the first time I tried it. It’s more potent than most Chinese mustards I’ve tried.”
