Highlander House Restaurant & Bar — among the best polish in Palos Heights. The walls could tell stories. Good cocktails round out an already strong menu. "The sauerkraut was very mellow and the stuffed cabbage was mildly seasoned and tender" — Jenna Ritz

I hate that I’m writing this review, but it is getting harder and harder to order delivery from this place.
Careful when you dine here.
Okay. This use to be my favorite restaurant with Polish food. I use to order door dash up to 4 times a month.

(Upgrade after 3 years:) The food is delicious; recently, the meals have improved significantly, and new, interesting dishes have been introduced. All the staff are extremely polite, creating a wonderful atmosphere and a great team!! [The only downside to this wonderful restaurant is unfortunately the behavior of Ms. Paulina, who is very rude and arrogant. She behaves unpleasantly towards both customers and other employees, showing her "superiority" towards them, giving them orders and acting bossy. Please!!…Change your behavior.]

Accommodating and friendly staff, excellent food, great drink selection of nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages, all inside a beautifully decorated establishment full of wall art in tribute to their wonderful, proud Polish heritage.

“I'm not polish but this place makes you want to learn more about polish culture and food.”
I'm not polish but this place makes you want to learn more about polish culture and food. Kind and friendly service, live music (weekends only I think), great drinks selection, amazing food (I recommend the European plater so you can try a bit of everything!) and at a very affordable price. Definitely one of my favorite places in the south suburbs!

“This place never disappoints.”
This place never disappoints. The food is always fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re looking for an intimate lunch or dinner or planning a larger gathering, Góralska Chata is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend!

“Polish food and Polish beer is an incredible combination.”
Polish food and Polish beer is an incredible combination. I had perogis, a potato pancake, and roasted potatoes, and it was some of the best food I've ever had. The beer was great too, I will definitely be returning every time im in the Chicago area. Edit: Ate here again, the only thing that changed is the live music (which is apparently every Sunday), and I now wish I could give more stars! What a great place, among the top 5 places I have ever eaten. I've lost 30 lbs over the past month, and gained it all back in one meal here - no regrets. Literally everything is incredible, if you're reading this to decide, just go. Edit: 20th visit, best place ever ❤️ Another edit: Added pics of the Chicago steak (NY strip)

“Highly recommend.”
Highly recommend! We ordered 6 sauerkraut/mushroom pierogi for an appetizer. They were delicious!!! We ordered the pork cutlet and stuffed cabbage with mushroom sauce. The pork cutlet was a nice size. The stuffed cabbage dish came with 2 nice sized pieces. They were fantastic. The mushroom sauce was crazy good. We had mashed potatoes and dumplings for our hot sides. We had coleslaw and cucumbers/sour cream for cold sides. The wait staff were very polite.

Wow what a gem. Happen to find this true Polish restaurant on line. From the moment we walked in it was a great experience. The food was awesome. We each had the European platter. It was like the food I grew up eating. It was also filling and by today's prices cheap, only $16.98. Our waitress was from Poland and had time to talk about her life there. To top the whole experience off, she brought my wife and I a shot of lemon vodka on the house! Second visit, the food was still great however, our bikes that we had on our car after we biked on the cal sag trail were attemped to be stolen. Our lock stopped the theft. We went in the restaurant because we saw they had cameras. We asked our waiter to get the manager so we could tell them so they could view the recording so they were aware of the thiefs and be alert to their presence. The manager did not care. The manager would not even talk to us. I guess because we had already paid we were not important. The food was not so good that the lack of caring can be forgiven. If you go there know that your belongings are at risk and the restaurant does not care.

“Great Polish restaurant with excellent Polish cuisine.”
Great Polish restaurant with excellent Polish cuisine. I recommend the "European plate" because for me it is the quintessence of Polish food. The food is delicious and I can recommend it to everyone. In addition, the traditional highlander soup "kwasnica", huh heaven in your mouth. What is worth emphasizing is the very nice service in regional costumes, which makes an additional good impression. I highly recommend this restaurant.

“My first time at a Polish restaurant and didn’t entirely know what to expect - I was incredibly satisfied.”
My first time at a Polish restaurant and didn’t entirely know what to expect - I was incredibly satisfied! The portions were generous. There was a lot of care and attention given to simple but flavorful dishes. Soups were freshly made. Our group ended up sharing off one another’s plates to try everything. The polish sausage was amazing. The meatballs were also great. The Pierogis were delicious. Everything was made fresh and from the looks of it, most of its is crafted in house. We will be back.
