“Caribbean cuisine, and family owned and operated?! It was my first time trying Mr. B’s and it definitely won’t be my last! Not only was he a pleasure to speak with, but his food was an equal pleasure to enjoy. I ordered the jerk chicken, which was served with rice and peas, as well as plantains. Don’t make the mistake I made and not order the cornbread. Everything was cooked to perfection, the meat practically falling off the bones. You can tell Mr. B puts a lot of time, love, and passion into preparing his family’s traditional cuisine. He makes everything from scratch and in house, from the sauce to the cornbread. That said, I will be back to try those oxtails…and the cornbread I should’ve ordered the first time! Thank you again Mr. B! It’s establishments like yours that make Chicago the greatest food scene on earth. Go and enjoy y’all!”

“If you told me I'd find top-tier jerk chicken in Jefferson Park, I would have never believed you but here we are. The chicken was juicy, incredibly smoky, and flavorful with such a good kick of heat. Plantains were subtly sweet, slight crisp on the outside, soft and tender inside. The mac and cheese looked a bit questionable at first but also turned out solid. Collard greens is a must. I'm not even exaggerating these were some of the best collard greens I have ever had.”

“I walked in on a Friday morning at 10 a.m.—fresh off a fasting blood test and absolutely starving. What I found wasn’t just food… it was comfort, confidence, and craftsmanship in a takeout container. The food? Outstanding. Every dish tasted like it came from a kitchen that respects tradition and takes pride in execution. The cowfoot was rich and deeply flavored, the oxtail tender and slow-cooked to perfection, and the ribs had that unmistakable balance of smoke, seasoning, and patience. The cornbread brought warmth and texture, while the collard greens were soulful, clean, and perfectly seasoned. The service elevated everything. This wasn’t just someone handing over food—this was someone who believes in what they’re cooking. There was enthusiasm, confidence, and a genuine smile behind the counter. The kind of presence that tells you: you’re about to eat well. The atmosphere—even for carryout—mattered. Spotless. Organized. Respectful to the food being prepared. You could feel the standards before you even took your first bite. And here’s the truth: I’ve had great meals before—Kingston Grill is no joke—but this… this is the gold standard. The owner told me I’d be back. He wasn’t hoping. He knew. And he was right.”

“Jerk pork was OUTSTANDING. Also rice n peas, cornbread, plantains. Great Find”

“Visited from out of Town for work and happened to just drop in and mannnn some of the best Caribbean food I’ve had in my life it’s a must stop everytime I’m in the state now. 10/10”

“THE BEST OXTAILS I HAVE HAD SINCE JAMAICA AND BROOKLYN NEW YORK!!! FOOD DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I WILL BE BACK!”

“I stopped by Mr. B’s Caribbean Grill on a Friday right when they opened, and I was really impressed. Cornell was running things by himself since his cashier hadn’t shown up yet, and even with a lunch rush hitting, he stayed positive and made sure everyone got great service. I got the jerk chicken meal and the cornbread, and both were amazing. The jerk chicken was some of the best I’ve had in a long time, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. I hesitated when I saw the cornbread was $8, but I’m glad I tried it. You can see real corn in it, and it was the perfect mix of sweet and soft. I meant to take pictures, but the food didn’t last long enough, it was that good. Cornell mentioned business has been a little tough lately with the government shutdown since they’re right by the Jefferson Park train stop, but this spot really deserves the support. I heard other people talking about how great the jerk fish, mac & cheese, and curry goat were too. Everything looked and smelled amazing. I’ll definitely be back!”

“My husband is Jamaican and from New York, where there was never a shortage of incredible Jamaican food. We’ve been on the hunt for a good spot in Chicago for a while, and finally found the one! The rice and peas is the best we’ve had, the jerk chicken is just like how it was when we had it in Jamaica, and the oxtail and goat curry has a dimension and depth of flavor that was missing from every other Caribbean place we’ve had! The festival and beef patty were also standout. Now we no longer have to resort to cooking if we want good Jamaican food, we can reliably get great meals here.”

“Went here for the first time and was blown away by the quality and taste of the food here. Very tender and flavorful. Got the jerk chicken plate, will definitely come back or order doordash in the future.”

“The food was incredible. We kept talking about it the rest of the day and definitely will return. Oxtails, plantains, jerk wings, mac n cheese, all delicious. The owner was also friendly and very nice. We are so happy to have this place in Jefferson Park!l. Everyone check out Mr. B’s!”

“We ordered 2 oxtail & jerk chicken combos with a cornbread & beef patty = $89. They unfortunately didn’t have collard greens and we had to wait an hour but it was out of their control due to a malfunction in the kitchen. I will say it was worth the wait as everything tasted fresh and flavorful! Looking forward to going back & trying more. The jerk chicken was tender and is a great second option to el Colombiano Asadero. The beef patty also has a really nice heat to it if you like spice. The cornbread is sweet and dense with real corn pieces which makes it all the better. Their cabbage and carrots side was also a nice add on since it is seasoned, steamed and light. Parking can be a little difficult so I recommend placing orders ahead of time, to go. The atmosphere inside didn’t feel clean enough to dine in but in case there’s more long waits, to-go might be the best option bc you don’t want to miss out on the good food regardless—”
