“Steak burrito was honestly one of the best I've ever had”

“This place is a solid 4.5 star restaurant.”
This place is a solid 4.5 star restaurant. I’ve rounded up to 5 because I’m a generous human being. The tacos are excellent, my jaws hurt from the chewing but the flavor was worth it. The tortilla seems home made and super fresh. Great steak flavor. Chile relleno was also good, not the best I’ve had but good enough. Chips were too greasy for me but I forced myself to eat all of them. Worth a visit.

“Best steak burrito around.”
Best steak burrito around. Add avocado, it’s even better. I drive 20 mins just for this. Fresh ingredients, mostly steak and massive — could feed 2.

“Very authentic on they food and servings.”
Very authentic on they food and servings. We order carnita burrito and tacos. It was very delicious. We were very hungry and this hits the spot. Place was awesome, the Mexican food was what we expected and we left satisfied. Este lugar estaba demasiado de rico. Los tacos y burritos estaban para chuparse los dedos, con salsa picante toda comida mexicana es bienvenida.

“Taqueria El Asadero is a true gem — family-owned, full of heart, and serving up some of the best...”
Taqueria El Asadero is a true gem — family-owned, full of heart, and serving up some of the best tacos on the North Side, if not all of Chicago. Every visit reminds me why we keep coming back. The carne asada tacos are a standout: tender, perfectly charred, and seasoned just right. The portions are more than generous — packed with juicy grilled meat nestled into pillowy white corn tortillas. It’s comfort food at its finest. Their rice and beans are honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. The red rice is incredibly fluffy, and the refried beans are rich, creamy, and deeply satisfying. Even their complimentary chips and salsa are something special — light, crisp, never oily, and perfect for scooping up every last bite. The atmosphere is unassuming and no-nonsense, just like it should be, and the service is always prompt and genuinely friendly. You can feel the love and care that goes into every dish. We absolutely love this place and can never resist stopping in for a taco (or three) whenever we’re nearby. Highly recommended!

“I’m all for trying out new restaurants and with a craving for Mexican we came by Taqueria El Asadero.”
I’m all for trying out new restaurants and with a craving for Mexican we came by Taqueria El Asadero. It is a bit of a hole in the wall and they only accept cash, but the food was fantastic. I got three carne asada tacos and was completely filled up. My girlfriend loved her el pastor tacos as well. If you’re in the area, I highly encourage stopping in and grabbing a bite.

“This is a fantastic place.”
This is a fantastic place! I especially enjoyed the homemade tortilla chips; they were crispy and fresh and wonderful without being oily. The carne asada was one of the best I’ve had, and the al pastor was also really good. The guacamole was fresh and delicious as well. It’s a very cozy vibe in there with water on tap and plenty of salsas.

“There are places that understand what a taco is.”
There are places that understand what a taco is. Places that really get that the simplicity of delicious food relies on good ingredients and consistent execution. These places become timeless and magical because when you visit, you don't know if you are in Mexico or Chicago and you forget what decade you're in. I swear that in my childhood, when I visit a taqueria like this, I am brought back to happy, delicious memories. Taqueria El Asadero is definitely on the list of the great taquerias in my life.

Went here to try out their tacos de asada and guacamole with a friend. It's a small little place, but there was a line. It's cash only, and they have an ATM there in the restaurant. I feel like that's important to mention. The steak was tender and so good. The guacamole is really creamy. Everything was very good. I would definitely go there again.

CASH ONLY! Saying it to start because you don't want to miss out on these tacos. The asada is, to me, the best in the city. You know it's so good because you can smell the delicious asador once you're in the vicinity. The best move here is to do the asada. The table provided chips and salsa are fresh and tasty. I just wish they would provide lime without having to ask

Always busy. Always a pleasure! Solid lengua. Solid pico. Solid service. I take issue with folks complaining about their prices. Running a restaurant in a large city is expensive, especially post-pandemic. $1 tacos only exist at Taco Bell 🤢 The small family-run shops like Asadero are worth the price. Never change!
